To a killer, murder is a game. To the victims, death is all too real. But when a popular computer game inspires a virtual crime wave, a female police psychiatrist must enlist a former police detective to help her cross the edge between games and reality, genius and insanity, life and death… Cutting Edge …is the shattering new thriller introducing officer Lucas Stonecoat and psychiatrist Meredyth Sanger.

In novels such as Extreme Instinct and Darkest Instinct, Robert W. Walker has probed the deepest recesses of the criminal mind, bringing us face to face with killers as brilliant as they are vicious. Now Walker returns to the gritty streets of Houston he first explored in Cutting Edge, where Detective Lucas Stonecoat and police psychiatrist Meredyth Sanger face a new predator: The Snatcher.

In the dark corners of Houston's urban night world, Detective Lucas Stonecoat and police psychiatrist Meredyth Sanger have come across another prostitute mutilated by the Scalper - a killer who has turned a primitive act of barbarism into a grisly, modern-day ritual. The crimes have cut deep into Stonecoat's heart and soul. He understands their infamous place in history. But even Stonecoat can't fathom how far this elusive savage will go to fulfill an ancient tribal instinct...

Terror nearly destroys Dr. Jessica Coran, former FBI Medical Examiner, and indeed, terror snatches her from her home and retirement. As a private consultant, Jessica joins forces with Cherokee Det. Lucas Stonecoat in Houston, TX, in an all-out effort to profile, hunt, corner, capture, or kill a serial killer whose taste for carving up helpless victims earns the fear of an entire city.

Texas Cherokee Detective Lucas Stonecoat is back, and with help from FBI profilers and police shrink Meredyth Sanger, now Lucas' wife, he is on the trail of a serial killer the press calls The Baby Slayer. It is a grisly if apt name given the killer. Lucas and his task force are soon on the track of the pedophile murdering monster, possibly the worst excuse for humanity that Lucas has ever come across. But all the systems of law enforcement have become obstacles to catching and keeping this particular suspect behind bars.
