TV is on, movie credits role. Starring Brad Willoughby in The Laughing Assassin. The aging actor, but much younger than he looks, dark hair and fit physique (50s), hasn’t worked in many years. He watches as he sips on a glass of wine, and the movie plays.... He’s now lost in thought, staring at a younger version of himself. We can sense by the way Brad mouths his lines as he watches his younger self dominates each scene, just how much he yearns for those glorious days now gone. 

We see a bright blue cloud-filled sky. Then we are zooming down, revealing what appears to be a swirling dust funnel in a clearing, surrounded by forest. Zooming farther down we see a young boy playing near it. Finally, we see him get swallowed up into a cosmic portal. We now zoom out, farther and farther until we see a large man dressed in regal garb, he is a wizard, searching desperately through a forest for his son. As he penetrates the trees he sees an ominous portal in the open field. A shoe lies on the ground near the swirling mass. He charges forward.

The world is on the brink of annihilation, we just don't know yet. An invisible enemy is waging war under the shadow of a deadly pandemic. The threat comes by way of an alien life-form. They exist among us. They are not like us, like you and I, made up of carbon and nitrogen. But they are here, right now, we just can’t see them. But make no mistake about it, this unseen enemy sees us - and like a whisper in the wind, it brings death.

Dead bodies have been turning up all over the place, and the public is scared as hell. Eight murders in a span of six months, all committed in the same brutal manner, and still, nobody has a clue as to who this malicious killer is, and the body count is rising. Luke Starr, a private detective working out of his Milwaukee office with his two sisters, is busy with less sinister cases at the moment. In the distant past, long before people populated the Earth, and before animals roamed the planet, something terrifying and cunning made its home in the vegetation covering the planet like a soft green blanket. Lying in wait for millions of years, this species continued to evolve, patiently crossing over and manipulating the genetic code of different species. And now, this perfect omniscient being, born from oblivion, has awakened and is ready to feed.

An astronaut’s gloved hand lowering a thin wire into a hole cut in ice. We hear the howling alien wind reveal: Michael Thompson (40's) in a full spacesuit, kneeling at a 20 foot hole in the icy surface of Europa, Jupiter’s fourth largest moon. The planet is white, glass-smooth, desolate. He continues lowering the wire. We don’t really know what he’s doing, and whatever’s attached to the wire can’t be very heavy or this wire would break.
