Poetry. The poems in Bell I Wake To create a sacred space honoring seasons, generations, the body, and every living creature the poet comes across. Patty Crane writes with the kind of attention Simone Weil says is close to prayer, and indeed under her gaze, everything is blessedly alive with song and shimmer, present in its leafing out and its leaving. Her supple language can transform a white birch into a mouthful of sunrise and then to the flush on a young girl's cheek.

'For myself/ I knew as soon as I could read and write/ That I must be a poet. Even today,/ When all the way from Cambridge comes a wind/ To blow the lamps out every time they're lit/ I know that I must light mine up again.' From his earliest boyhood memories of Highgate and Archibald, his old...

Words don't have meaning until they are met with a splash of substance and a dash of love.

I have a huge passion for writing and enjoy letting my ideas run wild. My endeavour in life is to encourage, uplift, and motivate. I strive to do this in my writing and in all I do and say. I am in awe of nature and her vast treasures. I receive much pleasure and inspiration from observing nature in her many beautiful forms. I hope that my writing can bring out this love and passion I have for nature and her splendour. I hope to immerse my listeners in my thoughts, descriptions, and experiences.

At its heart, Parade is a meditation on belonging: on the occasional yearning to be seen within a wider society while also holding close the intimate truths that make us who we are. The poems bear witness to the joys and burdens of history, the weight of expectation, and the liberating power of self-acceptance. They recall the carnivals of childhood, the rhythm of drums and voices, the bonds of kinship, and the resilience found in love and loss.

As Woodashoodakooda dangles on the edge of darkness and destruction, the robots lead them on a wild goose chase down an oddly familiar rabbit hole.
