Wednesday, May 13th: In Episode 768 of The Daily Grind, we continue The Gospel According to Ezekiel with Part 8, “False Peace and Empty Confidence,” from Ezekiel 11. Ezekiel is brought to the east gate of the temple where he encounters leaders confidently telling the people that Jerusalem is secure and judgment is not really coming. God exposes their false assurance and warns that outward religion and proximity to sacred things cannot replace genuine surrender to Him. The city they trusted to protect them would instead become the place where judgment overtook them. Yet in the middle of this heavy chapter comes one of the most hope-filled promises in Ezekiel: God promises to give His people a new heart and a new spirit. He will remove their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh, pointing toward a future transformation that Christians understand to be fulfilled through the Messiah and the Holy Spirit. Ezekiel’s vision stretches beyond exile and return to the deeper promise of restored hearts and restored relationship with God. The chapter closes with the glory of God fully departing from Jerusalem, showing that the greatest tragedy was never merely the fall of the city, but the loss of God’s presence among His people. Even so, God’s promise of renewal and restoration begins shining through the darkness.

Tuesday, May 12th: In Episode 767 of The Daily Grind, we continue The Gospel According to Ezekiel with Part 7, “When Glory Departs,” from Ezekiel 9–10. Ezekiel witnesses one of the most heartbreaking moments in Scripture as the glory of God begins to leave the temple. Before judgment falls, God marks those who still grieve over the sin and corruption of the city, showing that He still sees and preserves the faithful remnant. Judgment then begins at the sanctuary itself, reminding us that accountability is greatest where God’s truth and presence have been most clearly known. Ezekiel falls face down in grief as he watches the vision unfold, feeling the sorrow of what sin has done to the people. The glory of God slowly moves from the Holy of Holies toward the temple threshold, showing that God does not withdraw casually or without warning. The real tragedy is not simply exile or national collapse, but the loss of God’s presence among His people. Ezekiel warns us that it is possible to maintain religious activity while drifting far from God Himself. This chapter calls us to reject empty religion and pursue whole-hearted worship and repentance. Even in the departure of glory, however, a thread of hope remains: the God who withdraws because of sin is also the God who restores because of mercy.

Monday, April 11th: In Episode 766 of The Daily Grind, we continue The Gospel According to Ezekiel with Part 6, “Hidden Sin Revealed,” from Ezekiel 8. In a vision, God takes Ezekiel into the temple and reveals what is happening behind closed doors. What should have been the center of worship had become filled with compromise, idols, and divided hearts. Ezekiel sees spiritual leaders secretly offering incense to false gods while believing, “The Lord does not see us.” He also witnesses worship turned upside down as people bow toward the sun with their backs toward the temple of God. The tragedy is not just open rebellion in the world, but hidden compromise among people who still appeared religious on the outside. Ezekiel 8 reminds us that spiritual drift usually happens slowly, through small compromises repeated over time. God exposes what is hidden not to destroy people, but because healing begins in the light. This chapter challenges us to examine the “hidden rooms” of our own hearts and ask whether anything has quietly taken God’s place. More than surface religion, God desires whole-hearted worship and undivided loyalty.
