  • Corporate Knowledge: After Dark -- Spurs 125, Mavs 92
    Oct 23 2025

Thank you to everyone who tuned in live for the first Corporate Knowledge: After Dark of the 2025-26 season, and what a show it was. I’m of course talking about Victor Wembanyama, not me. Whew, what a night!

    Topics included:

    • Vic is preposterous, and I’m running out of descriptive terms for what he’s doing
    • Steph Castle taking control of the offense in De’Aaron Fox’s stead, and building on where he left off last season
    • Dylan Harper overcame what looked like normal, early rookie jitters to find his sea legs off the bench
    • Keldon Johnson was everywhere, has never looked better in that reserve role
    • The Spurs are going to be more and more lethal in the open and broken court as these guys get reps and develop together
    • Second-side actions and attacking voids created by Wembanyama’s gravity are going to be key in mitigating the effects of San Antonio’s relative lack of shooting depth, and it has as many advantage creators off the dribble as it’s had in a long time
    • This is what a team looks like when it’s trying to win for real (I explain)
For those of you who would like to join live in the future and get in on the chat (and especially those from the Small Market Bias universe), you can do so by subscribing to the Corporate Knowledge newsletter for free (or paid!) at matthewtynan.substack.com and downloading the Substack app. You’ll get a notification when we hit the air, which will be shortly after as many road games as we can. If you do miss a show, fear not. They will be sent out via newsletter and on the podcast feed either late that night or at some point the next morning (like this).

    See everyone Friday night.

  • Another Spur is injured, but at least Wemby looks stupid good
    Oct 17 2025

First, the fellas somehow fall into a discussion about the NBA Cup and general health of the NBA before any Spurs talk. It was Trevor's fault.

Then, it's more injury news -- this time regarding Jeremy Sochan, who will miss the season opener in Dallas due to a wrist sprain.

After the break, it's time to take a look at the promising preseason performances of a number of Spurs, including the big man who looks like he's about to take over the league.

  • Rankings, win totals, and ... playoff predictions?
    Sep 26 2025

First, Matthew Tynan and Trevor Zickgraf dive into the recently released ESPN top-100 player rankings ahead of the NBA season. Four Spurs made the list, and we'll bet you can guess who they are.

Then, after the break, the guys take a look at the win totals out of Vegas and attempt to nail down a high-end trajectory for San Antonio.

  • Mailbag time means it's basketball time
    Sep 15 2025

First, apologies for the poor audio. Will be fixed next time!

Second, Matthew Tynan and Trevor Zickgraf field a slew of questions from the community. What is Brian Wright's roster theory? Will lineups featuring a bunch of ball-handling guards work? Did Chris Paul's influence effectively rub off on the young roster during his brief time in San Antonio?

All this, and more mailbag to come at the Corporate Knowledge newsletter this week (matthewtynan.substack.com).

  • Kawhi Leonard will not plant trees for you
    Sep 4 2025

First, the guys discuss the report by Pablo Torre of The Athletic and Meadowlark Media that Kawhi Leonard was paid by a fraudulent tree-planting company for "no-show" work, allegedly in an effort by the Clippers to circumvent the league's salary cap upon his signing back in 2019. Yes, seriously.

Then, after the break, more normal conversation.

Is the De'Aaron Fox contract fair? Is Jeremy Sochan next, or should the Spurs wait on that extension? All that and more on the latest episode of SMB.

  • The Summer of David Jones-Garcia continues in Vegas
    Jul 15 2025

First, Matthew Tynan and Trevor Zickgraf revisit the Summer Spurs' exciting win over the Jazz on a Riley Minix buzzer-beater, and Trev wonders just what the hell he is as a player.

Then, the guys dive into the much-celebrated emergence of David Jones-Garcia, and whether or not he's actually going to be a Spur during the 2025-26 season. The answer is probably a little more complicated than you'd think.

Finally, after the break, a look at the Vegas performances of Dylan Harper and Carter Bryant -- two guys whose summers may be ending soon.
