We are in a new series of episodes called "Foundations of Audio." In the first episode of this series, we took a step back to the very beginning and defined what sound is, how it works, how humans interpret sound, and why we need sound systems in the first place.

In episode 2 of the series, we dive into the topic of audio signal flow and how to develop a solid method for troubleshooting.

In this landmark 25th episode, I get vulnerable about where my heart and head are now after almost 30 years of producing live events. I explore issues of burnout, my anger and resentment at all the personal sacrifices, the pains I have endured and still endure, the scars on my body, heart, and mind, my own inner struggle for self-worth, and finding a hopeful path forward.

I hope this episode encourages you to reflect and take a self-assessment not just of your career goals but also of who you are as a person, and of your mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual health.

I pray that you all feel permission to explore that balance between vocational fulfillment and personal fulfillment, without losing your soul in the process.

  • Ep. 26 - Season 2 - RAVE Foundations of Audio Series - Signal Processing
    Apr 20 2026

    Send us Fan Mail

In this 26th overall episode of RAVE The Podcast, we return to our Foundations of Audio Series to cover Module 6 - Audio Signal Processing. This is a huge topic to try to cover in one episode, but I did my best to comprehensively cover the major categories of audio signal processing, their purposes, how they work, and some of their practical uses.

First, we talk about EQ, then compressors, gates, limiters, and expanders, followed by reverb and delay. I also released it on YouTube for the first time - https://youtu.be/OFHT18FL8G0!

I will be posting some of the information I used as research on Rave The Podcast's Facebook page as well. I hope you enjoy this episode!

If you have been listening for a while, I challenge you to share this episode with at least one other person who you think might want to join our RAVE community and learn about audiovisual principles.
