On 10th May 2025, the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of Ottawa in the Archdiocese of Lilongwe, celebrated 180 years of its existence worldwide, as well as 25 years of sisterhood for Sister Jenipher Machemba.

The celebration also included the first profession of vows for Sister Triza Kumbanda, Sister Rosaline Kanjeli, and Sister Prisca Letiyas at St. Joseph (Ludzi) Parish in Mchinji district.

The ceremony was led by the Auxiliary Bishop of Chipata Diocese (Zambia), Bishop Gabriel Msipu, who commended the sisters for their dedicated service in the archdiocese.

During a Vocation Day celebration at St. Matthias Lumbadzi Parish in Lilongwe, Monsignor Patrick Thawale urged young people to reflect on their vocations by using education, prayer life, and their conscience.

He emphasized the importance of using their talents, especially in technology, for good and for the development of their communities and the Church.

Monsignor Thawale highlighted that youths are crucial for the Church and the country's development and should prayerfully consider vocations like priesthood, religious life, or single life.

On 29th 2025, the Catholic Archdiocese of Lilongwe launched Bishop Patrick Kalilombe Catholic High School in Dowa district, formerly known as Answer Private Academy.

The school has been officially opened and blessed by Archbishop George Desmond Tambala and it has been named in honor of the first Malawian Bishop of Lilongwe, Bishop Patrick Kalilombe.

Officials and guests praised the initiative, emphasizing the importance of education and the Catholic Church's role in supporting the government in this area.

On April 15th, 2025, the Catholic Archdiocese of Lilongwe came together for the Chrism Mass at Our Lady of Africa - Maula Cathedral.

Archbishop George Desmond Tambala and Auxiliary Bishop Vincent Mwakhwawa led the beautiful celebration, with priests from all 49 parishes in attendance.

Archbishop Tambala shared a powerful message during the Chrism Mass, reminding us that it's a celebration of Christ's priesthood, instituted at the Last Supper.

His Grace also highlighted the blessing of the holy oils, which our priests will take back to their parishes for the administration of sacraments.

"Chrism mass is a Eucharistic celebration. It's a mass, the one that we normally celebrate during the Holy Week or even prior, before the Holy Week, for two things. First of all, it's a day when we, together, celebrate the priesthood of Christ. " His Grace Tambala expressed.

Youths in the Archdiocese of Lilongwe have been urged to make a fast and right decision on how best they can serve God through different vocations that are in the church.

Archbishop George Desmond Tambala of the Archdiocese of Lilongwe made this appeal on Sunday, 09 March 2025, at St. Mathias Parish (Lumbadzi) during the launch of this year's Vocation Sunday.

In the Catholic Archdiocese of Lilongwe, Bro. Barnett Chokani Phiri and Bro. Yohane Lucas have been ordained as deacons by Archbishop Tambala, emphasizing service and celebrating the Pallottine congregation's growth.

The event highlighted both dedication to ministry and the promising future of the Pallottine community.
