Dawn breaks, a new day unlike no other. Our hero closes the door to his chariot, taking a preliminary step into renown. He is no ordinary man; he is a man of destiny. 

A curious vest covering his crimson T-shirt faded from wear. Is he a character from a Hanna-Barbera cartoon or a reinvented Marlboro Man? One so befitting of these times. 

Instinctively, he locks eyes with his target. The object of his desire: a cylinder of processed meat, tantalizingly rolling on cylinders of brushed metal. To the untrained eye it resembles an out-stretched wizard finger, pointing to the horizon—to the future! 

The store swirling like the meat amalgamate. He reflects unto himself, “Truly a realm of convenience!” Time and space collapsing, a mischievous grin washes over our hero. The moment has finally arrived. 

In a dash, the wizard finger transfigures to a nub. A trail of grease sliding down his cheek, the only evidence of this misdeed. Magnetic attraction, like the accretion of planets, our champion now stands in queue holding a fraction of the once great marriage between feats of modern science and what barely meets a passing definition of food. Protein...straight to the gut. 

A crowd forms around the exhibition. Clerk and patron alike left without context to the wanton tryst between man and meat. A tear runs down his cheek, forming a tributary to the oily river. “Satisfaction,” he muses, “comes at the expense of social conventions.” 

Off in the distance, somewhere far away, a bird carries upon its wing a hope. In the eyes of lovers, the seed of a propitious future plants into a fertile womb. To the onlookers, serving as witnesses to both, he stands before them as Zeus looking down from Mount Olympus. He’s not the hero they deserved, but the one they needed. 

Is this tale fiction or fantasy? Or is this the realest thing ever to occur inside of a Quik-Trip? It all depends on your level of creativity.

Summary: We see you there. Pinchers flexed, ruddy hardened exterior, yet profoundly soft underneath your exoskeleton. Like our aquatic friend, the lobster, we too have fought the fight of the introvert.

Why the shell? We didn’t feel safe, so we hid inside. Deep down within—leagues below the sea where we sought refuge from judgment from the outside world. Unlike the extrovert who gallivanted around, seemingly unaffected by the setting that brought us into peril.

A wild idea, but what if introverts and extroverts were really two sides of the same coin? What if it was environment or the perceived state of safety in one’s milieu? The lobster is at home at sea, yet alien in the desert.

We ask that you place your pinchers in a relaxed position. Soften your exterior so that we can reach the buttery soft, open space within. The space that longs to embrace the world as the world holds reciprocal embrace. Come up for air, lending your ears as you listen on!

Summary: Eye contact. Step forward, engaging. Arms spread out like airplane wings, ready to enfold. A plaintive gaze as you approach, hesitation from the object of your affection. A thought arises: which came first, the chicken or the hug?

Tremulous as we’ve been, we were once the chicken. The person who looked away, unable to make eye contact. The one who shied from the love that was offered. It was the day, wasn’t it? Waking up on the wrong side of the bed. Off kilter, out of sorts...disconnected.

The hug, the human equivalent of jump starting an engine. This time we are connected. This time we are ready to engage another. To dissolve away the implied separation we experience in human form. To realize the unification that occurs so readily when two engage becoming one.

Come, allow us to give you an auditory hug. To connect with the parts of you that so desperately want to feel loved. To erase the illusion of what was never truly separate. Two hearts paired become one heart; through love. We won’t chicken out this time, we promise!

In opposition, neither budge—running hot and cold, little to no ground ceded. Weather remaining inclement, we appear to be lost in translation. 

You bristle—how could they be so insensitive! Your partner recollects an ancient peccadillo, reminding you of an unforgiven sin. The cyclone expands!

Two languages, two fronts...two beings communicating from two vantage points. The lens of consciousness holds the key. It’s here where we find the Rosetta Stone. Here where languages spoken are of a common tongue. 

Hearts open, no gust, but pause. Two friends share in this pause together. A common vantage point through the lens of understanding. 

Listen onward and bring your rain slicker. The clouds are parting and we’re nearing the approaching sunrise my friend.
