    Inhaltsangabe

A number-one best seller in several categories with over 14,000 five-star ratings on Goodreads.

From the number-one New York Times best-selling and award-winning author Colleen Hoover comes "A stand-alone romantic thriller that is tragic, creepy, and brilliant!" (Mel Reader Reviews

Lowen Ashleigh is a struggling writer on the brink of financial ruin when she accepts the job offer of a lifetime. Jeremy Crawford, husband of best-selling author Verity Crawford, has hired Lowen to complete the remaining books in a successful series his injured wife is unable to finish.

Lowen arrives at the Crawford home, ready to sort through years of Verity's notes and outlines, hoping to find enough material to get her started. What Lowen doesn't expect to uncover in the chaotic office is an unfinished autobiography Verity never intended for anyone to read. Page after page of bone-chilling admissions, including Verity's recollection of the night their family was forever altered.

Lowen decides to keep the manuscript hidden from Jeremy, knowing its contents would devastate the already grieving father. But as Lowen's feelings for Jeremy begin to intensify, she recognizes all the ways she could benefit if he were to read his wife's words. After all, no matter how devoted Jeremy is to his injured wife, a truth this horrifying would make it impossible for him to continue to love her.

    Sexy. Twisted. Consuming.

Due to graphic scenes and mature content, this book is recommended for listeners 18+.

    Rubbish

The most irksome thing about this boring, pointless book is the awful writing. It reads like an adolescent diary...run of the mill, repetitive, bland, vainglorious. I haven't read anything by this author before. Perhaps in her usual romance genre no-one cares that she is not a great writer. In this book that fact is extremely jarring because both storytellers are supposed to be talented writers, famous even (Verity), and both keep banging on about how being writers, with writers' minds, makes them such special snowflakes. Deeply cringy.

As to the story...what I can say without spoilers is that if you skip this one, you'll have missed absolutely nothing. Even the author herself doesn't stand behind the absurdity of it. It's slightly creepy, but if you like creepy it will disappoint. There's a smidgeon of romance, but if you like romance it will disappoint. There's sex, but it's so tedious and awkwardly unrelatable that even the protagonist, Lowen, skips a bunch of it with eye rolls. There's nothing to learn, understand or think about ever again. Happy for the author that she seems to have a dedicated and easily delighted fan base to run this by. It is their reviews that made me give this one a shot. Hopefully my review will save one or two of you from wasting your time.

    Gut aber nicht ueberraschend

Habe das Buch sehr schnell durchgehoert weil man wissen will was passiert.

    Great production!

Very well done audio with two great female voices. They really made this already incredible story an awesome and even more spine-chilling experience than reading.
You'll listen, you'll have theories, you will suspect everyone and everything. You'll be sad, mad, angry, confused, delighted, shocked, and disgusted. It's mind-blowing.
