Über diesen Titel

Building on the story begun in The Hobbit and The Fellowship of the Ring, this is the second part of Tolkien’s epic masterpiece, The Lord of the Rings.

Frodo and the Companions of the Ring have been beset by danger during their quest to prevent the Ruling Ring from falling into the hands of the Dark Lord by destroying it in the Cracks of Doom. They have lost the wizard, Gandalf, in the battle with an evil spirit in the Mines of Moria; and at the Falls of Rauros, Boromir, seduced by the power of the Ring, tried to seize it by force. While Frodo and Sam made their escape the rest of the company were attacked by Orcs.

Now they continue their journey alone down the great River Anduin – alone, that is, save for the mysterious creeping figure that follows wherever they go.

Ich mag Herr der Ringe, allerdings find ich die Gesänge zwischendurch anstrengend. Der Sprecher macht es sehr gut.

Gutes Hörbuch

Its mighty slow and the first time i read it when i was in my 20s i didnt like it. It was just too different from the modern highlights of fantasy (pratchett, rothfuss, erc.) but now i listened to it again and first accepted and later cherished its slower pace. And its splendor really hit me. Not only is it a great epic. It is also based on the old sagas of western and Northern europe, therefore representing a common european literary heritage. Kinda cool!

It has some obvious shortcomings. Its hopelessly romantic in its portrayal of monarchy. It has some serious racial biases although tolkien was not a racist. But apart from these issues it's great, read it!

What can i say? Its a classic.

Einfach spitze erzählt. Das ist Buch 3 von 6. es erzählt die Geschichte von Aragon , Legolas , Gimli, und von Mary und Pippin. Vom Zeitrahmen wo Pippin und Mary entführt werden bis zum Zeitpunkt wo Pippin und Gandalf nach Minas Tirith reiten.

Einfach ein tolles Buch und super gelesen von Rob Inglis

I think i dont have to repeat that the story is great, but somehow i imagine Tolkien would talk like this if he read the book out loud
