genau so habe ich dieses Buch meinem Umfeld beschrieben und sie zum lesen animiert. Unterhaltsam geschrieben, lebensbereichernde Ansichten und Spannend bis zum Schluss.

I read the book first and then listened to the audio book. The speaker does a great job of bringing the fish out of water protagonist to life without being unbelievable or annoying. The progression of the mindset is very well worked out.

I loved the idea behind the book. What would an outsider - an alien - think about us humans, about our life on earth? We are supposed to be an evolved and intelligent species, and yet we do the most incredibly stupid - and often downright evil - things. Most of our problems (climate change, wars, terrorism etc. etc.) are man-made, and yet we do next to nothing to prevent them. It would be funny if it wasn't so tragic. I suspect an alien wouldn't be too impressed with us.

So this could've been really interesting, and the first few chapters were quite promising and rather funny. Unfortunately it soon became incredibly corny and trite.

I guess this could be described as a "feel-good story", an antidote to all the terrible things we see on the news every day. Unfortunately it's not for me. Its message is too simplistic and based on insights as profound as a Hallmark card. It's so sickly sweet that reading this might actually cause tooth decay. I guess I'm way too cynical for this amount of naiveté.

The narrator is okay. His performance is unspectacular, but not unpleasant. His "female" voices (a kind of breathy whisper) is rather annoying, though.
