Ich bin in Indien gewesen und auch wenn ich verhältnismäßig wenig des Landes gesehen habe,durfte ich viele Einblicke in die Vielfalt und die kultur werfen. Die Geschichte hat mich sehr berührt und abgeholt-ich fühlte und roch manche Momente sehr intensiv und danke dafür.

Apart from being written and read amazingly this book has so many deep messages, especially the one that:
sometimes our wishes are not the best for us. My mom always told me "be careful what you wish for, though it might come true". Also on the day two of reading I've already painted my own skin with henna ... beautiful read. Just dive in. I was a little concerned about the story, being an empathic person I take it too personally EVERYTHING and did not want to read about deep misery, pain, abuse etc. NOTHING disturbing to the story. It is beautiful. Simple as that. Deep, interesting, inspiring, heart warming. Of course the protagonist go through an emotional, physical and mental journey, which is not easy, but it is described very eloquent and mildly.

You can smell, feel and see India in this enchanting narration. Merely the younger sister and her behaviour got on my nerves, but I loved the main protagonist.

This book is full of wisdom, grace and beauty. The narrator has the most beautiful voice and captures India and the characters in the most amazing way. Simply beautiful.
