It’s the spring of 1969 and Lakshmi now directs the Healing Garden in Shimla. Malik, her protégé, has finished his private school education, and at twenty, he leaves to apprentice at the Facilities Office of the Jaipur Royal Palace. Their latest project: a state-of-the-art cinema. Malik soon finds that power and money move seamlessly among the wealthy class, and favors flow from Jaipur’s Royal Palace, but only if certain secrets remain buried. The Perfumist of Paris
Paris, 1974. Radha, Lakshmi's younger sister, is living in Paris with her husband and their two daughters, to whom she is devoted, when she finally discovers her passion—the treasure trove of scents. She has an exciting and challenging position working for a master perfumer, helping to design completely new fragrances for clients and building her career one scent at a time. She only wishes Pierre could understand her need to work. She feels his frustration, but she can’t give up this thing that drives her. Tasked with her first major project, Radha travels to India, where she enlists the help of her sister, Lakshmi, and the courtesans of Agra—women who use the power of fragrance to seduce, tease and entice. Everything was interessting
About India, the Henna artist business.Living in the mountains and the Parfumebusiness in Paris. Sometimes I was a bit annoyed by the charakter of Rata but I liked the hole trilogie very much.

Book1&3 were amazing
The stories in Book 1 and 3 were absolutely wonderful, vivid, and truly engaging, making it an exciting read from start to finish. However, Book 2 fell a bit short in comparison. The pacing wasn’t as thrilling, and unfortunately, the narrator’s voice took some getting used to, which, for me, I never quite managed. This detracted from the overall experience, leaving the sequel feeling somewhat underwhelming.

Really captivating from the first chapter
Loved the Jaipur-trilogy. From the first book on I could not stop listening until finishing the third. I enjoyed the indian words and phrases the author used in the books. Each story was just great. Really do recommend!

Wundervolle Indien Trilogie
Ich konnte nicht aufhören in die Welt einzutauchen, die Alka Joshi so berührend erzählt. Schade, dass es schon zuende ist!

Excellent
Very good audiobook, absolutely enjoyed it: lovely storytelling, interesting, great narrators.
I really like the trilogy and do recommend to everyone interested in India and its culture

Liebenswerte Charaktere und exotisches Ambiente
Ich habe Lakshmi, Ratha und Malek über die drei Bände ins Herz geschlossen. Jeder Charakter entwickelt sich und reift. Es gibt interessante Einblicke in die indische Gesellschaft, die Bedeutung von Henna Malerei und die Kunst, Parfüm zu kreieren. So viele sinnliche Eindrücke hellen den grauen Winter auf. Band 2, in dem es hauptsächlich um Malek geht, ist wie ein Krimi.
