    Brought to you by Penguin.

The audiobook edition of The Gulag Archipelago by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, read by the author's son, Ignat Solzhenitsyn.

With a new foreword written and read by Jordan B. Peterson and an exclusive Q&A between Jordan B. Peterson and Ignat Solzhenitsyn.

The officially approved abridgement of The Gulag Archipelago Volumes I, II & III.

A vast canvas of camps, prisons, transit centres and secret police, of informers and spies and interrogators but also of everyday heroism, The Gulag Archipelago is Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn's grand masterwork. Based on the testimony of some 200 survivors and on the recollection of Solzhenitsyn's own 11 years in labour camps and exile, it chronicles the story of those at the heart of the Soviet Union who opposed Stalin and for whom the key to survival lay not in hope but in despair.

A thoroughly researched document and a feat of literary and imaginative power, this edition of The Gulag Archipelago was abridged into one volume at the author's wish and with his full co-operation.

    Horrifying, Deep and Timely

I can only second what was said in the End Credits: "I can hardly imagine anyone reading this book seriously and not becoming a better person because of it."

The sheer curage, determination and luck that was necessary for someone to survive these horrors and be able to write this book, produces a virtual obligation on all of us not having been there to at least read about these horrors

    Pflichtlektüre

Ein Meilenstein in der Geschichte der Menschheit. Lediglich eine etwas gekürzte Version wäre evtl. wünschenswert.

    Outstanding

A deep epochal book, profoundly relevant today, 50 years after its conception. The reading by Ignat Solzhenitsyn is outstanding. This makes listening to this long book with its dark theme an intense experience, easy to hold on. The famous abridgment presented is just right for contemporary readers.

    Don't miss it!

An important historical document, well written with at times difficult-to-digest sections. But in light of current events and a social context of ever increasing top-down hierarchical directives and a popularized communitarian ethic which appeals to the duties of the individual for (pandemic) health benefits of the collective, this is necessary reading to understand the inevitability of the slippery slope on which we might find ourselves if one-sided directives continue to persist unchecked and unchallenged.
This book is exceptionally well read by Alexander's son, Yermolai, who participates in a very illuminating interview with Jordan Peterson at the end of "Gulag Archipelago". This Penguin Classic deserves 5/5 IMHO.

    A truly remarkable book

The history that must never be forgotten. A deep dive in and truthful examination of human souls in an extraordinary time and circumstances.
The foreword, the narration and the discussion at the end have brought new light to the book’s relevance for today.
Deeply enjoyed and highly recommended to everyone.

Understanding history, and the place of ideology in it, is part of becoming whole as a person. This extraordinary report is priceless.
