I really like Michael Connelly's work in the Harry Bosch series; it’s the benchmark I use to compare and rate other crime writers' work. Very few authors have the imagination, knowledge, and skill to create credible characters and dialogue, along with well-constructed plots based on thoroughly researched topics.

However, after reading the first five Lincoln Lawyer novels, my impression is that Bosch’s magic could not be transferred to these books. Although the ideas and story outlines are great, lawyer novels in general as well as these by MC in particular are never truly suspenseful or believable. They almost always boil down to melodramatic court hearings and pathetic cross-examinations that are too far fetched. And this melodrama gets soon incredible and then annoying.
