This second volume can't hold a candle to the first one. The storyline is bland and the MCs remain flat throughout the story.
I realize that this is almost sacrilegious but the narrator-duo wasn't right for the story. Yes, it's one narrator-royalty but still ... Maxine Mitchell was good but Joe Arden just wasn't the right choice for the taciturn, troubled, young MC. Moreover, Arden didn't do sucg a good job with the other characters, either.
To be fair: I listened to Vol. 1 and 2 back to back, so I was still used to the Vol. 1 performance by another narrator. Maybe I would've appreciated Arden's performance more if I had started with this volume.
I still think, Arden sounds too old for an early-twenties character. He's also too smooth for a severely troubled kid, IMHO.
