Über diesen Titel
Lost in a world of levels and skills, a former fireman gets a second chance at becoming the type of hero he always wanted to be, in this isekai series.
The last thing Jonathan "Tilly" Tillman remembers is the thunderous crack of a flame-engulfed building collapsing as he tried to save a little girl . . . Until a system administrator offers him a new life on Nephesh, the realm where ideals, myths, and legends clash endlessly for supremacy in the hearts of men.
Carrying all the trauma and regrets of his decades-long career as a first responder, Tilly must start from scratch—without a tutorial—in a system-governed universe. To make matters worse, on day one he finds himself facing off against a cosmic force bent on corrupting the entire realm.
Determined to stand his ground, Tilly taps into his secret love of gaming and his emerging abilities as a Son of Flame to become the hero he was always meant to be. Armed with allies, skills, and the potent power of his old nemesis, fire, he might just be able to save the world.
But Tilly's choices have consequences . . . Ones that will shake the very foundations of Nephesh—and perhaps the nature of reality itself.
The first volume of the hit LitRPG adventure series—with more than a million views on Royal Road—now available on Kindle, Kindle Unlimited, and Audible!
©2025 Joshua James Hutto (P)2025 Podium AudioPaired with the underwhelming plot (am not a big fan of the MC showing up and immediately starting to save the world) and the average-at-best narrator, this book is not particularly worth the listen. You might find some joy in this one, but you should save it for when your to-read-list has run dry.

I like that Tilly has a good head on his shoulders despite his past mistakes. And with the slowly building background tension of the setting, rather than his leveling being aimless and "for the sake of it", you get the feeling that things have a purpose.
I'm not a huge fan of self-sacrifice myself, but since this is a story about a firefighter of all professions, I knew what I was in for. And so far there hasn't been any unreasonable self-sacrifice anyways, just the normal kind of heroing.
I appreciate that Tilly's power level doesn't jump from zero to fireball casting within five chapters, without being so slow as to be unsatisfying. I also hadn't come across a MC who specializes in Endurance yet, so that's full of untapped potential in my mind.
The writing is very solid, free of mistakes and jarring word repetitions. Descriptions of environment and fights are well handled, and interactions between characters manage to avoid that wooden feeling many new writers have a hard time with.
I'm enjoying this ride, and if you're looking for something burning hot to scratch that litrpg itch, give this a try!
Badass fire powers that make sense?! Yes please!

The Mc behaves like a willing pawn, always takes the easy, morally correct choice and can not get his emotions under control - rly annoying.
