#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • Experience the book that started the Quiet Movement and revolutionized how the world sees introverts—and how introverts see themselves—by offering validation, inclusion, and inspiration

“Superbly researched, deeply insightful, and a fascinating read, Quiet is an indispensable resource for anyone who wants to understand the gifts of the introverted half of the population.”—Gretchen Rubin, author of The Happiness Project

ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR—People, O: The Oprah Magazine, Christian Science Monitor, Inc., Library Journal, Kirkus Reviews

What are the advantages of being an introvert? They make up at least one-third of the people we know. They are the ones who prefer listening to speaking; who innovate and create but dislike self-promotion; who favor working on their own over working in teams. It is to introverts—Rosa Parks, Chopin, Dr. Seuss, Steve Wozniak—that we owe many of the great contributions to society.

In Quiet, Susan Cain argues that we dramatically undervalue introverts and shows how much we lose in doing so. She charts the rise of the Extrovert Ideal throughout the twentieth century and explores how deeply it has come to permeate our culture. She also introduces us to successful introverts—from a witty, high-octane public speaker who recharges in solitude after his talks, to a record-breaking salesman who quietly taps into the power of questions. Passionately argued, impeccably researched, and filled with indelible stories of real people, Quiet has the power to permanently change how you see yourself.

I loved this book. It helped me to accept myself more and see my traits in a positive light.

Every introvert should read it

I have so much better understanding of myself after reading this book. A huge dive into my childhood traumas. Those are clearing things up. Just to know them. What's really interesting that we are not just yin or yang; eye opening for how hybrid we are.

This book was a big cry..but it’s worth listening, specially if one is going through an inner conflict between introversion and extroversion.

How to be comfortable under your own skin?

This book is very well researched and it doesn't become boring while reading it. As an introvert, you will feel understood and comfortable while reading this book. In fact, for me, this is the goal of the book. S. C. names many advantages of being an introvert that you may haven't recognized before. She wants the reader to accept his personality trait and to not feel guilty or wrong about it by never expressing your true identity. I love this book, because it helped me to raise my self esteem tremendously and to live a more fulfilling lifestyle. The only problem for me was that I tended to accept me and my flaws a bit too much after reading "quiet" which has lead me to ignore my, from my point of view, "bad" personality traits that may come along with Introversion(e.g. social anxiety). So, it's totally fine and rewarding to accept yourself right now, but please never lose the vision for what you can become.

Well-written and comforting

I wish I'd read this book earlier. It would have saved me from Burn out.

Everyone needs to read this book.
