Three years have passed since the magician Nathaniel helped prevent a cataclysmic attack on London. Now an important member of the British government, he grapples with numerous problems: foreign wars are going badly, Britain’s enemies are mounting attacks close to London, and rebellion is growing among the commoners. Increasingly imperious and distracted, Nathaniel is treating Bartimaeus worse than ever. The long-suffering djinni is growing weak and vulnerable from too much time in this world, and his patience is nearing its end.
Meanwhile, undercover in London, Nathaniel’s longtime rival Kitty has been stealthily completing her research on magic, demons, and Bartimaeus’s past. She has a daring plan that she hopes will break the endless cycle of conflict between djinn and humans. But will anyone listen to what she has to say?
In this glorious conclusion to the Bartimaeus Trilogy, the destinies of Bartimaeus, Nathaniel, and Kitty converge once more. For the first time, we will learn the secrets of Bartimaeus’s past, and catch a glimpse into the mysterious Other Place–the world of demons–as together, the threesome faces treacherous magicians, a complex conspiracy, and a rebellious faction of demons. To survive, they must test the limits of this world and question the deepest parts of themselves. And most difficult of all–they will have to learn to trust one another.©2006 Jonathan Stroud; (P)2006 Random House, Inc. Das ist wirklich ein toller Abschluss zur Trilogie. Der Sprecher holt alles raus ...
Die Bücher sind toll , die Hörbücher noch viel besser.

Tolle Trilogie

Loved it from start to finish.
I do admit there was a bit of a drag in the first third of the story, but due to its impeccable writing and the speaker's talent for impressions and the right tone at the right time, even that was a joy to listen to and passed quickly as the plot thickened.
I've always enjoyed our demonic king of sass, and there is definitely no shortage of that here either.

the end was...brutally amazing. heartbreakingly beautiful finish that tied everything together and made sense even as it threatened to wrench my heart out.

Loved it. Will listen to the whole thing again 100%.
Speaker is as always perfect and his impressions on point and a joy to listen to.

Great finish for a great series!

Die Sprache des Autors ist intelligent, frech und dabei angenehm charmant. Ein Genuß sie zu hören. Auch der Sprecher ist vorzüglich ausgewählt!

I love the bartimaeus books, they are not only a good read but also a great audio book. They can be read/heard at any age and personally I think that Simon Jones does a terrific job at interpreting them, giving each character its unique voice.LISTEN TO IT!!!
