Well, let's start with the positive aspect.
Aiden Snow is a master of his craft. His narration goes down like honey.... First, his deep voice is veeery nice. Second, he can do so many different voices that each person has their own and you can tell who is meant even without hearing a name. Full 5 stars in front of him.
On to the story, which is not my type. It starts off well, in the same style as the other books in this series. But I will never believe that two strangers in their late 20s get married after four weeks and it's the greatest love of their lives. Just hand holding before the engagement (which is after 3 weeks they have met for the first time), a kiss at the engagement and a very vanilla chapter before the wedding, almost at the end of the book. Ok, on the wedding night (chapter 38) there is the only steamy encounter at the end of the book, which I didn't like either.
Tyrell's father is omnipresent, which is also quite awkward and also boring.
I should also mention the author's note at the beginning of the book. It gets to your heart and it's understandable that this book is not her best....

I have listened to everything here by A E Via and Aiden Snow because the other books were just great and snow reads amazing. I love the steamy hot romance combined with the action and thrill and have been bingeing all of them over the last few weeks. Yes, some were better than others but all were a good listen. Until this one. After the first few chapters the story was boring and the romance fell flat. It felt forced as if Via had to or felt the need to diversify the characters so we had a black, second generation American Muslim and a white atheist (I think) who coincidentally already always wears something similar to a hijab. And before their romance really takes off and even before the first kiss they get engaged and decide to marry the next week. And all because That’s how he thought his father would have liked it. At that point the last shred of my bullshit tolerance was used up and I had to end it. (After about 6hrs where I always had hoped it would get better) so great performance by Aiden snow for keeping me invested in his reading but none for the book and story

I love the Nothing special series and the Promises series was okay too (a bit weaker than the series about God and his team, but still good). Part 5, however, is completely disappointing. The plot starts quite well but then all the interesting angles are abandoned. The story is weak and lacks any real content. And the sometimes very conservative way of thinking and "old" role models were really too much for me.
