Agassi's incredibly rigorous training begins when he is just a child. By the age of 13, he is banished to a Florida tennis camp that feels like a prison camp. Lonely, scared, a ninth-grade dropout, he rebels in ways that will soon make him a 1980s icon. He dyes his hair, pierces his ears, dresses like a punk rocker. By the time he turns pro at 16, his new look promises to change tennis forever, as does his lightning-fast return.
And yet, despite his raw talent, he struggles early on. We feel his confusion as he loses to the world's best, his greater confusion as he starts to win. After stumbling in three Grand Slam finals, Agassi shocks the world, and himself, by capturing the 1992 Wimbledon. Overnight, he becomes a fan favorite and a media target.
Agassi brings a near-photographic memory to every pivotal match and every relationship. Never before has the inner game of tennis and the outer game of fame been so precisely limned. Alongside vivid portraits of rivals from several generations - Jimmy Connors, Pete Sampras, Roger Federer - Agassi gives unstinting accounts of his brief time with Barbra Streisand and his doomed marriage to Brooke Shields. He reveals a shattering loss of confidence. And he recounts his spectacular resurrection, a comeback climaxing with his epic run at the 1999 French Open and his march to become the oldest man ever ranked number one.
With its breakneck tempo and raw candor, Open will be listened to and cherished for years. A treat for ardent fans, it will also captivate listeners who know nothing about tennis. Like Agassi's game, it sets a new standard for grace, style, speed, and power.

When most people think of Michael Jordan, they think of the beautiful shots, his body totally in sync with the ball, hitting nothing but net. He is responsible for incredible moments so ingrained in basketball history that they have their own names: The Shrug, The Shot, The Flu Game. But for all his greatness, there's also a dark side to Jordan: a ruthless competitor, a gambler. There's never been a biography that balanced these personas-until now.

Once upon a time, brick-and-mortar video stores were king. Late fees were ubiquitous, video streaming unheard of, and widespread DVD adoption seemed about as imminent as flying cars. These were the widely accepted laws of the land in 1997, when Marc Randolph had an idea. It was a simple thought - leveraging the internet to rent movies - and was just one of many more proposals, like personalised baseball bats and a shampoo delivery service, that Randolph would pitch to his business partner, Reed Hastings, on their commute to work each morning.

In best-selling author Walter Isaacson's vivid and witty full-scale biography, we discover why Franklin turns to us from history's stage with eyes that twinkle from behind his new-fangled spectacles. In Benjamin Franklin, Isaacson shows how Franklin defines both his own time and ours. The most interesting thing that Franklin invented, and continually reinvented, was himself.

In 1982 Murakami began running to keep fit. Here he reflects on his running experiences. Equal parts travelogue, training log, and reminiscence, this revealing memoir covers his preparation for the 2005 New York City Marathon. By turns funny and sobering, playful and philosophical, this is a must-listen for fans of this masterful author and for the increasing number of people who find a similar satisfaction in running.

First bad review - Really wanted to like this book
This is my first bad review and let me start by pointing out that I really wanted to like this book, but it is totally overrated. The good rating fooled me.
If you are not into tennis and if you are not even into sports in general then this book is IMO probably not for you. I heard reviews stating the opposite and this is what convinced me to read it among other facts like the book being an autobiography, whereas this is the first biography I don't like. Why? The reasons can - spoiler alert! - be summarized in two sentences:
1. Andre Agassi hated tennis all his life.
2. Although Andre's story is somewhat interesting 18+ hours is totally overkill.
Maybe my expectations were to high given that I do like sports, I love biographies and the ratings were phenomenal. The main issue that I have with the book is that it is very - let me emphasize VERY - repetitive and way too long. Andre's story is not that bad, but 8-9 hours would have sufficed.

Totally loved this, of course as a Tennis fan of the 90s, this is so much fun and the insight into Agassi’s early life and career is mind blowing. Could put it away, it was with me in the car, in the kitchen, in the bathroom, everywhere.
Had to watch all the old classic matches all over again...
Incredibly authentic and exciting to listen to. Good voice from Erik Davies as well!

Inspiring
Andre Agassis life as told in OPEN is an inspiring story about hardship, contradictions and overcoming it all .
It's inspiring as his hate for tennis turns into deep respect and love for the game. Agassis capacity and need to share everything with the ones he loves and the ones in need shows how money only is a means to achieve greater goals in life.
