Bonus material! Includes an excerpt from John Douglas and Mark Olshaker’s Obsession

Discover the classic behind-the-scenes chronicle of John E. Douglas' 25-year career in the FBI Investigative Support Unit, where he used psychological profiling to delve into the minds of the country's most notorious serial killers and criminals - the basis for the upcoming Netflix original series.

In chilling detail, the legendary Mindhunter takes us behind the scenes of some of his most gruesome, fascinating, and challenging cases - and into the darkest recesses of our worst nightmares.

During his 25-year career with the Investigative Support Unit, Special Agent John Douglas became a legendary figure in law enforcement, pursuing some of the most notorious and sadistic serial killers of our time: the man who hunted prostitutes for sport in the woods of Alaska, the Atlanta child murderer, and Seattle's Green River killer, the case that nearly cost Douglas his life.

As the model for Jack Crawford in The Silence of the Lambs, Douglas has confronted, interviewed, and studied scores of serial killers and assassins, including Charles Manson, Ted Bundy, and Ed Gein, who dressed himself in his victims' peeled skin. Using his uncanny ability to become both predator and prey, Douglas examines each crime scene, reliving both the killer's and the victim's actions in his mind, creating their profiles, describing their habits, and predicting their next moves.

    interesting Story, but

the author, having been exposed to themost horrible and sick behaviour is not able to See, that this clearly influences his judgement of Humans. "no Redemotion, No healing, Lock 'em Up or kill them and nobody can really judge about that but ne and my fellows" is a bit outdated and strange for european ears. But there is no denying that it is a fascinating Story.

Behind the scenes of the real mindhunter.

Interesting account of the expert who gets inside the minds of some of the most violent criminals.
What makes a murderer tick and how can the crime scenes tell the mindhunter about the perp's personality? The book also details the mindhunters career and amusing anecdotes and describes the toll such a career takes on the private lives of those involved catching serial killers.

Great audio book. One of the best

It is a fantastic audio book. The book provides a fascinating and at times chilling insight into the work of FBI profilers. It covers the carrier of the author and his and his colleagues work in that field, and covers a vast amount of cases of various crimes. I highly recommend this book.

    Intriguing

Learning about the development of criminal profiling in the FBI and its practical use in the most famous serial killer cases in the US was stunning! I never expected there to be so much logic in the offenders‘ behavior concerning their crimes and their actions taken to cover them up. If you’re interested in profiling or just major crimes in general, you MUST listen to this book!

    mindhunter review

Too boring to finish. Not as interesting as the film series. Did not finish listening.
