Ist vermutlich Geschmackssache, aber ich kam mit dem Sprecher leider gar nicht klar. Hat für mich den Genuss des sonst guten Buchs ruiniert, bis ich mich ganz gegen Ende allmählich dran gewöhnt hatte. Tipp: vorher kurz reinhören!

Lee Child raises the bar another time with "Make Me". Thrilling and full of surprises until the vet last pages. I really enjoyed reading this book - one of the best Reachers.

Of course Jack Reacher is addictive and we love this guy. Every male would like to be him and every female would love to sink into his strong arms. We readers think, we own the guy and that is why we feel entitled to tell Lee Child to bring back the Jack Reacher, we know and love. We want to have the knight in shiny armor of modern times back. It is hard to come up with a new and interesting plot, when you write the 20th book of the series, but “Make Me” is heading the wrong way.

The great voice of Dick Hill cannot change that, the story is simply too far off.

Jack Reacher steps out of a train to find out, why this place in the middle of nowhere is called “Mother’s Rest”. He does not get a good explanation, but he meets Michelle Chang, an attractive woman and former FBI agent. Chang is a private investigator and looking for her missing partner. Unsurprisingly both of them fall for each other and join forces to unravel the dark secret of “Mother’s Rest”. The search for answers leads them all over the West-Coast and the Midwest and soon enough, they turn from hunter into prey. Unfortunately the deeper they dig, the more disgusting the story gets. The WEB as a commercial entertainment platform offering torture and murder is not Jack Reacher’s place.

The story moves too far away from what we love about Jack Reacher. He is not supposed to save the world, he is the guy, who puts things right in small town America and provides justice and protection to people (mostly women) in need. The blood and gore of “Make Me” and the incredible cruelty of the story disgusted me.

I know, you probably read “Make Me” anyway, but you will be disappointed.

Nachdem Lee Child in seinem letzten Reacher- Buch eine unglaubwürdige story zum Besten gegeben hat hat und seinen Protagonisten auf Biegen und Brechen in das Heimatland des Autors verfrachtete, hier endlich wieder der "klassische Rescher, wie ihn seine Fans lieben. Zwei Hauptpersonen, ein paar Bösewichte und am Ende eine Stadt, die in Schutt und Asche liegt, wieder einmal super vorgetragen, sehr kurzweilig mit einem Ende, mit dem man nicht unbedingt rechnen kann...

Wer den original Reacher kennt, ist enttäuscht von dieser Geschichte. Sprecher ist einschläfernd, die Geschichte ist langweilig und man kommt nicht zum Punkt.
