I always hate leaving a less than stellar review but I'm afraid, this book didn't do anything for me. I found it rather boring and some of the characters really didn't grip and convince me. Moreover, I didn't like the end, not in and of itself but the way the author wrote about the children, the older felt to be destined to have a covert Cinderella existence ahead of her. I may be mistaken in the author's intention but that is how it came across to me.

I love the series but after having had a break from it and it's narrator her reading of this novel sometimes was grating in its fake southern drawl and more than once her timing or emphasis in a sentence was off. Something I didn't noticed in any other book of the series. This time it bugged me enough to influence my enjoyment of the listening experience.
