successful sequel
Sadly many sequels can't keep up with the original story. But luckily this doesn't apply here. The second part of Alanna's adventures is as amazing as the first one. The reason for this might be the fact that the story about Alanna should originally have been one book, so Tamora Pierce didn't write the sequels out of necessity. They were already there.
In this book Alanna is growing up. She has to learn to deal with her fears to be successful and get her knighthood and there is also the evil mage Roger who is a thread to the Crown.
I'd say we have in this book even more tension than in the first one, because Alanna now mustn't only conceal her sex but has to protect her prince from Roger, too.
Most definitely as worth reading (or rather listening) as the first part.
