Brielle Atwater isn't sure of much, but she knows a few things:

  1. Having black wings is not normal.
  2. Selling her soul to the demons was a mistake.
  3. Lincoln Grey is the biggest asshole she's ever met...but not falling in love with him might prove impossible.

When angels fell from the sky to war with the demons that ravaged Earth, their combined powers infected humanity. Now, the humans are assigned one of two fates, being either demon-gifted or angel-blessed.

After wings sprout from Brielle's back at her awakening ceremony, she's sure she's an angel-blessed celestial. It's not until she sees black wings that she realizes something is terribly wrong.

Having sold her contract at a young age to save her father's life means she should be bound for Tainted Academy. That is, until a fallen angel unexpectedly fights for her to be accepted into Fallen Academy, the elite school for those who inhabit Angel City.

She's immediately matched with her impossibly handsome celestial teacher, Lincoln Grey. Laying eyes on him, her first thought is that her time at the academy might actually be fun, but this theory quickly fades when she and Lincoln clash on day one. To further prove her admission into Fallen Academy is cursed, the entire school is thrown into chaos when an Abrus demon reveals that he knows Brielle's secret. Now, above all else, Lincoln must fight to protect her.

To his surprise, the only thing more difficult than trying to save her...is trying not to fall for her.

In parts very annoying because the heroine is acting mist of the time like an emotional 14-year old; which the performer can depict very well when her voice goes all high-pitched (spoiler: most of the time). The storyline is unbelievable: Going into slavery to save mommy being slaughtered and then later abandons her with another demon because it’s all better now for her mother with a different enslaver. Romantic interest is that of a teenager. Plot is without surprises and has often the “US-military is the best-vibe” underlying.
There are nice ideas in the story (thats why I will give more than 2 stars), but I will not continue on with the series.

Full of clichés

The story somehow didn’t catch my undivided attention. It was nice but not unpredictable.

There also seemed to be a mixup of the names of the characters Logan/Lincoln. It added confusion that didn’t aid the story.

I expected more nerve wracking action and devilish twists.

Not my kind of story

I loved it! I was searching for a new fantasy story to listen to and was directly caught up in the story. listened to the whole thing on one day and can't wait to get my next credit in a few days😍😍😍 The story directly started and I really liked how it did not take very long to get addicted to it 😉 The reader also has a very pleasant voice and fits to the character presented. so 5 points from me🤗

what I was looking for

The back story has a lot of potentials but is drowned by teenage romantic kinds of "struggles". Bri has more struggles than just a boy's attention: her background, her family, financial problems, not fitting in, the angels, and not forgetting the demons and her gifts. All of that is so minimized and hardly mentioned. Just a lot of rumble around he likes me, he doesn´t like me, he's that and that...
I don't really appreciate that the only adjective to describe the guys is "hot".
Or it could be just my kind of story.

If the speaker did put a little more emotion to the reading, the internal struggle could be more interesting to hear but it is a little bit flat and boring. I am struggling to finish it...

A lot of potential but...
