However, I strongly recommend seeking out the unabridged version in all its glory. I give only three stars to this abridged product, which rushes through the story as if the goal of reading—or listening—were simply to reach the end. For me, it’s quite the opposite: the only disappointment I’ve ever felt with a Jane Austen novel is that it eventually ends.
Starting with this abridged edition—believing it to be the full text—and then turning to the complete version was a powerful lesson in Austen’s brilliance. Don’t miss out.
