I used to love this book as a teenager. I still enjoyed it this time, though I see way more flaws with it now. It is very atmospheric, a bit too short, that is, things happen a bit too quickly, and the resolution is a bit forced.
The narrator has an unfortunate way of speaking with an almost hysterical urgency, despite speaking rather too slowly, which is very grating, especially in the long run, it makes for an unpleasant listening experience. She also has a peculiar (wrong...) way of pronouncing words ("vehemence" ), and her accent sounds forced and not very convincing.
I am glad this book is finally available as an audiobook, but I am not sure I will listen to it often, because the narration is really not my cup of tea.
