Über diesen Titel
There isn't a monster D'Angelo Kumar can't destroy or a crisis he can't manage, until he meets Angel Bai. The insane attraction he feels toward the sexy waiter is unwelcome, because D'Angelo doesn't have room in his life for relationships. A solitary path is the only option for a man like him, but fighting his growing feelings for Angel may be the first battle he can't win.
Angel's abilities extend beyond memorizing the menu at D'Angelo's favorite Italian restaurant, but he knows better than to trust anyone with his secret. When a vision reveals that D'Angelo's life is in danger, he will risk everything to save him. The only thing scarier than monsters and demons to Angel is never knowing D'Angelo's touch.
To say the demon hunter is reluctant to form a partnership with the psychic is putting it mildly, but D'Angelo needs every advantage he can get when the world's very existence is threatened. As darkness looms nearer, D'Angelo and Angel's unexplainable connection grows stronger. For a chance at happiness, the two men will need to call upon unlikely allies for an epic showdown between good and evil.
Contains mature themes.

Great
The story is very nice with charming characters. The narrator does an amazing job characterizing the protagonist.

Really enjoyed it!
Great start to a series that has lots of interesting characters! I hope these two writers will finish the series in the end, would be sad not to get the stories of the other characters.

I just love Joel Leslie voice
Nice story and the affection between D Angelo and Angel was sweet 🙈 makes me laugh, they were just open not going around the corner better than real life,

Rarely exciting and rather toxic.
Let's start with some positives: Joel Lesie is doing a good job over all, apart from some minor issues with accents here and there and some instances where the inner voice of a character doesn’t match the speaking voice. The idea for the story and the world surrounding the charakters are interesting if not very original. The found family aspect of the group surrounding the main characters is quite nice and a good idea, sadly rather under-developed.
Now to the not so great stuff:
First and foremost, the central romantic relationship is one fat, huge, neon Red Flag! the power imbalance between the two is just appaling and there are zero steps taken to insure that the weaker partner is comfortable and not feeling any pressure, on the contrary he's being bullied, threatened and made to understand that he shouldn't be there at all. The younger partner isnt just physically weaker, he's also financially completely dependent on the older partner, (who isnt just older and stronger but also has superpowers and almost unlimited funds) and of course is also a virgin so doesn’t have any idea of what to expect. They are 'in love' and in a life-long mating bond after just one week and literally bound to each other by some mating magic pseudo spiritual mumbo jumbo that lasts even after death after only three months of knowing each other - that’s not romantic, that is terrifying! There's a reason why wemons rights went up after we had the option for devorce people! Choice and consent and understanding are romantic.
The two main characters are also just walking cliches. The older one is the hardened warrier, who cant show feelings and emotions, who's constantly angry, can't accept help, bullies people into submission, objectifies people, has his mind 'in the gutter', is sexist and most of the time just an asshole. the only good thing about him, that is supposed to make it all okay is that he saves peoples lives sometimes. The younger one is small, rather submissive, in a financially tight spot, has some trauma (that is told in such a distant way that it doesn’t really have any impact) and a shitty job. the only interesting thing about him is that he has visions (that do not get explored in any way) and he's sometimes a bit sassy.
Their relationship is basically just sex and work. The two have ONE emotionally intimate moment, other that that, they dont really talk, there's no understanding between the two and really no emotional bond to speak of.
The side charakters do not get a proper introduction and are not much more that the usual asortment of gimmics- the sassy red head, the hacker genius, the witch that can convenientlx heal all injuries and the sad rich guy.
Even the plot itelf is rather uninspired. Someone has a bad artefact that can call upon the end of the world, the heroes need to destroy it. Thats a very old concept that can be made interesting if you find a new angle to tell it from or you have a great new idea for creatures or the world is special or something, but none of that is the case - no new ideas, nothing original, it feels like the autorsjust combined half a dozen fantasy stories. And our main characters don't safe anything in the end, they fail and get magically saved by an all powerful being we've never even heard of before that very moment and therefore the whole thing falls flat.
the book is also a good hour too long. the last hour has a epiloge where the main characters get married and so on and then it contains another chapter that is called 'epiloge' that is actually the prologue to the second book.
All in all really disapointing.
