The duet narration by Joe Arden and Lee Daniels felt incredibly immersive. The way they performed this story made everything feel so vivid and cinematic that I completely lost myself in it. I could just lean back, close my eyes, and disappear into the story. Absolutely phenomenal.
That being said…
this book had my anxiety levels SPIKING. 😭
I definitely would not recommend this during exam weeks if you need something soft and comforting. This story had me stressed, emotional, nervous, and completely invested.
But wow… the story itself? So good.
Hunter loses a bet and ends up shaving his head, only to unexpectedly meet the love of his life in the process. He insists on taking her out, she conveniently works overtime to avoid him, he waits anyway, drives her home, gives her his number… and then she never calls.
Not because she isn’t interested.
She literally doesn’t own a cellphone and then panics herself out of contacting him. 😭
Honestly? We love a persistent king.
And as fate would have it, he runs into her again at one of his games. Of course there’s drama. Of course there’s the awful ex. Of course there’s family pressure and the feeling of not being good enough.
But the real reason behind everything?
I genuinely didn’t see it coming until much later, and when everything finally clicked into place… wow.
Like so many heroines in romance, she keeps pushing him away because she believes he deserves someone better. But for Hunter, there simply is no one else. No other woman compares to her.
This honestly felt like a movie while listening to it. The kind of story you completely sink into for a few hours just to forget the world for a little while and believe everything might turn out okay in the end.
And the narration elevated every single emotional moment. The tension, the heartbreak, the longing, the frustration… all of it felt incredibly real.
Such an intense and beautifully performed experience. 🖤
