As always Mitchener makes a world region come to life. The Caribean is an ideal object for Michener’s writing style because it offers a huge selection of completely different cultures and dramatic historic events of great historic relevance . Once again Mitchener opened my eyes to the many possible perspectives with which one can look at the same historic events, always through most sympathetic and entertaining human stories.
