The hardest part of being a noble’s first son? Nothing—you inherit most of it.

Being the ninth son means you inherit war.

Drafted to the front, Francis Lancaster has one purpose: to keep his half-brother Michael alive on the blood-soaked fields of Reevotort, where six months of fighting the beastkin army has taken its toll on the kingdom. When Francis steps into his brother’s punishment, that moment changes everything.

Now, whenever Francis dies, he wakes a few days before his death, every skill and stat he gained, kept.

Curse or blessing, the loop is a weapon—if he can stand the cost. To save his brother and himself, Francis must map patterns, stack skills, and turn each loss into a better opening move…before the next death makes him repeat everything again.

Yeah. Time loop Storys are hard to pull off.
This here does it decently, but with caviats.

Overall the Story is enjoyable and the Voice Acting is superb.

Bad spots are how often things are "repeated" off screen and on screen. It's a bit weird and clunky.
"I needed 100 trys to beat this!" ... 5 mins later " i need 1000 trys to beat this!".

Spoilery... but not much:
Aside from that the hinting of the "enemy" that he smells familiar and the whole start of the loop is a bit "Ehh?" at the moment. Cause it makes no sense ... if i understand the underlying Story. It's the "wups that happened!" trope and then just rolls with it.

I did enjoy the interactions of the MC and the Sidecast. I will most likely get me the second one too.
It's not the best and most toughtfull mystery time loop Story. But there's plenty of fights and character growth.
So its good.

Good and enjoyable. With Problems.

Likeable character, Realistic depiction of events & emotions and interesting characters (sure, most are flat, but a lot have depth & show more aspects throughout the story). I really liked the power progression from a simple melee-grunt to an obsessed top 10%er, while discovering more & more nuances to the real problems & real depth of the enemy & layers on layers of politics, interests & conflict.
In short: Groundhog Day but in a classic fantasy world while fighting an overpowered enemy within & without.

One of the best progression novels

A bit slower start with naive MC but good pacing overall and great character development.

Fun to listen
