My girlfriend read this series many times throughput her life. Now we are listening to it together for the first time. I love it just as much as her! What a brilliant writer.

Best narrator in the series so far!

Where most authors try to more or less successfully recreate Middle Earth, Goodlind tries an uniquely different approach. Sure, from time to time he goes overboard with speeches and obscure rules, but in the end all the passages and plot lines you kind of think are going nowhere suddenly pay off brilliantly. The last few hours are just breathtakingly intense. This has to be one of the best climaxes in high fantasy in my humble opinion. Richard, Kahlan and Cara are beautiful and strong characters you just love to root for, no matter the obstacle. Also the new additions to the cast are interesting even thou you kinda want them dead quite a number of times while listening.
The performance by Dick Hill is all right for the most part - he gives Richard a deep and menacing voice that fits the character perfectly - but he makes a few bad decisions. So Eagon, the huge D'Harran guard has a squeaky voice from time to time. Stuff like that took me out of it quite a number of time.

Auch wenn das Buch nicht schlecht war, ich werde die Serie nicht weiter verfolgen. Teil 3 und 4 waren gleichermaßen schwächer als noch 1 oder 2 und dass jedes Buch von einem anderen Sprecher vertont wurde finde ich persönlich störend. Insgesamt ist dies sicherlich kein schlechtes Buch, aber es hat es nicht geschafft dass ich mich weiterhin für die Abenteuer von Richard Rahl interessieren würde...und wie kann es sein dass Cahlan 3 Bücher lang auf die gleiche Weise ausgesprochen wird und jetzt plötzlich ganz anders?

The story Richard and Kahlan continues as exciting as before. Storylines connect and the tale becomes more complex.
Sadly the reader changed the pronunciation of many names and gives well known characters all new voices. It takes some time to get used to it and to understand who he’s talking about.
