The only problem was, that the story was way too slow at the end and I felt like it were always the same conversations and moments.

Halten Sie die Hörbuch-Ausgabe von The Secret History für besser als das Buch?
Ich habe das Buch auf Deutsch geschenkt bekommen und mir dann die englische Hörversion geholt, weil mir einiges etwas schlampig übersetzt vorkam. Ich habe es nicht bereut! Dass die Autorin selbst liest, hilft beim Verständnis dieses klugen Buches.Welches andere Buch würden Sie mit The Secret History vergleichen? Warum?
Ich habe beim Hören weniger an ein anderes Buch als an den Hitchcockfilm gedacht, in dem zwei Studenten einen Menschen töten als intellektuelle Herausforderung töten (Rope)Hier liegt der Fall zwar etwas anders, aber Anklänge an die Hybris dieser Studenten sind feststellbar.
Hat Ihnen Donna Tartt an der Geschichte etwas vermittelt, was Sie vielleicht beim Selberlesen gar nicht bemerkt hätten?
Die gesprochene Sprache vermittelt die Unterschiede zwischen Ost- und Westküste in Amerika und die Eigentümlichkeiten der Protagonisten in einer Intensität, wie es einem geschriebenen Text logischerweise nicht möglich ist.Gab es im Hörbuch einen Moment, der Sie ganz besonders berührt hat?
Ich finde es verstörend, wie der Hörer der Komplize der Täter wird, wie man mitfiebert und hofft, obwohl das, was sie tun, moralisch unverzeihlich ist.Was wäre für andere Hörer sonst noch hilfreich zu wissen, um das Hörbuch richtig einschätzen zu können?
Es ist eine Geschichte, die den Hörer mitnimmt, im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes. Sie verlangt Konzentration und, obwohl ich das in keiner Weise geplant hatte, war das parallele Lesen und Hören fruchtbar. Mir ist beim Hören viel aufgefallen, was mir beim ersten Lesen entgangen war.Beeindruckend

yes. but only if ms. tartt weren't the one reading it. when i read the secret history some years ago i was fascinated and had lost some sleep, not having been able to put it down. but as an actor, playing all the parts and doing all the reading, she is not as good.Welcher Moment von The Secret History ist Ihnen besonders im Gedächtnis geblieben?
the awful rendition of bunny. the way ms. tartt used her voice while portraying bunny was just disturbing my listening pleasure. i also believe that she doesn't have the talent, or rather knowledge, to keep a voice going, i.e. the french accent that became a mixture of british, american and french. i had to stop listening after an hour.Wie hat der Erzähler das Buch beeinflusst?

what i have figured out in listening to the snippets we hear before committing to a buy is that they are usually the part of the book that is the narrative. but when it comes to dialogue is where an actor either reels you in or pushes you away.a prayer for owen meany by john irving1Q84 by haruki murakamiand now the secret history are audio books i have had to replace because of that reason.having said that i am happy that audible is so generous with its customers.thank you.great book! but...

... I don't enjoy listening to it very much. Donna Tartt is an amazing writer for sure but not a very good reader. The reading sounds awkward and the audio book is not half as enjoyable as it could be if it was read by a professional reader.I might love the book, but....
