American Desperado is Roberts’ no-holds-barred account of being born into Mafia royalty, witnessing his first murder at the age of seven, becoming a hunter-assassin in Vietnam, returning to New York to become--at age 22--one of the city’s leading nightclub impresarios, then journeying to Miami where in a few short years he would rise to become the Medellin Cartel’s most effective smuggler.

I first came in contact with the work of Evan Wright when I read "Generation Kill"

I went into this book with high expectations based on my prior exposure to Wright's work.

Let's just say that he did not disappoint... not a single bit.

The contents of this book will draw a clear picture of the world of drug dealing and vice. I loved it, I hated it (due to Jon Roberts' Character) and the rest of the time it kept me on my toes.

Jon Roberts has a very polarizing character. He is just as likely to piss you off as he is to leave you fascinated. A very respectable trait in my opinion.

I will certainly go for another listen in a week or two and I will certainly recommend this book to anyone who might be interested.
