Let the voices of Charlotte Ritchie and Josh Dylan transport you to a dystopian Britain where women are scarce and a male-dominated population rules. Ritchie effortlessly conveys the weight of Eve’s burden – choosing between humanity and her heart – with empathy and conviction. Dylan’s portrayal of Bram, meanwhile, gives listeners a vivid insight into the miserable world outside of Eve’s tower. Together, the narrators draw you into this unorthodox love story and have you rooting for the main protagonists until the unexpected final chapter.

Both accomplished writers in their own right, Eve of Man was the first novel husband and wife duo, Giovanna and Tom Fletcher, created together. Exploring the consequences of a future fertility crisis, elements of Doctor Who, Avatar and even Disney (Eve is trapped in a tower above the clouds, after all), are interwoven through the series. From gender to society and duty, listeners can reflect on their own beliefs, too: love the one or save the many?

With comparisons being drawn between this series and those of The Hunger Games and Divergent, Eve of Man has been well received by fiction fans. With likeable characters and an almost plausible future setting, it makes for a truly pause-resistant listen. In the press, Heat Magazine describes the first instalment as 'One of the big books of the year. You’d be a fool to miss it'.
