Sixteen-year-old Jerry Henderson only wanted one thing: a Thanksgiving hunting trip with his friends. Against his father’s better judgment, he joins John Davis and the Morris brothers deep in the Louisiana woods, hoping for adventure, freedom, and a story worth telling. They get one. After a long day of empty trails and missed opportunities, the boys finally spot their prize—a large pig rooting through the brush. Excitement takes over. Guns fire. The animal falls. To the boys, it is a lucky kill and the promise of Thanksgiving ham. Then a stranger walks into camp.
