Two weeks ago, I was writing press releases in a cubicle. Now I’m hunting giant crustaceans to feed a tribe of beautiful women. I awoke on a strange shore, far from Earth, with a new power raging in my muscles. In this primitive world, helpless women look to me for protection against goblin slavers and wild beasts.

With the birth of my two baby boys, it’s clear the curse that destroyed the male population has faded away. But the witch Brunhilda threatens to unleash a new curse, even deadlier than the last. However, an uprising of radical witches threatens Brunhilda’s rule. Their cunning leader, Fang, has summoned dark powers that will kill Brunhilda—releasing her curse when she dies—and ignite an apocalyptic “Final Revolution”.

When I arrived at the village last winter, the women faced starvation and extinction. But I've put food on their tables and babies in their bellies. My power—a gift of the gods—is growing ferociously, but I must learn to wield it without destroying everything, including myself.

In this book, Matthew McCullough offers a series of meditations that model how to draw on the hope of heaven for everyday life in the meantime. Chapters connect specific struggles of life in this world—from dissatisfaction and inadequacy to anxiety, grief, indwelling sin and more—to specific promises of the world to come. Drawing on insights from Christian writers of the past, McCullough shows how the Bible uses the hope of heaven to help us now.

When a mortal soldier is transformed by divine fury, the war between mortals and gods erupts into a cataclysmic battle that will shatter magic itself. Reggie was once simply a general charged with forming an army to save a planet that’s become his own—but now he wields stolen godly power. And he must use it to end centuries of tyranny—at a terrible cost.

War never rests, and neither can Reggie. The battle for Tormith is just the beginning as the armies of chaos and turmoil march ever closer to strategic points. Every choice is a gamble, and Reggie must face his toughest challenge yet: defending the planet of the women he loves against overwhelming odds. When the weapon that was summoned by the gods to rival Reggie is finally revealed, survival becomes a race against time.
