This is the true account of an eight year old Salish Indian boy who, while fishing for his family's supper, was kidnapped by a man with a badge. He and other indian children were stolen from their homes without their parents' knowledge and taken away to school where they were forced to learn the ways of the white man. Here is the story of his surviving Fort Shaw Indian School until he and other children made a daring escape through the mountains of Montana to find a pathway to their homes and the joyous reunion of the "ghost children" with their families.

Set against the backdrop of East Texas in February 1994, this true-crime account begins with the disappearance of seventeen-year-old Lilli Anne, a responsible Lindale High School junior whose late-night shift at Sonic ended like any other until she never returned home. Her mother’s horrifying discovery the next morning launched an intense search involving local law enforcement and the Texas Rangers, but Lilli seemed to vanish without a trace.
