Farah Ibn al-Umda's dramatic historical Sa`idian novel takes place during the period of the English occupation of Egypt. The novel follows the adventures of a young doctor who is assigned to join a battalion of doctors heading to Upper Egypt to confront the deadly cholera epidemic sweeping the region. "Jabal al Gharbi cave" is a fantasy and science fiction novel, whose events revolve around an Egyptian scientist who returns from America to live in his ancestral homeland in Upper Egypt. To his surprise, he discovers that he no longer conforms to the customs and traditions of the region. Until his life became difficult for him and he was deprived of the woman he desperately wanted to marry, so he invented a device to travel through time, only to realize that everything he knew was actually an illusion.

Its events revolve around an orphan from Upper Egypt who is involved in the crime of excavating and selling Pharaonic antiquities, which leads to a bloody conflict. The novel explores in detail the process of excavating graves and the Egyptian culture’s reliance on the jinn (spirits) to fight the jinn, the guardian of the treasure. The story takes place in an atmosphere of suspense and excitement as different characters become involved in the crime, leading to a violent and destructive conflict that claims the lives of many people.
