Acts 4:13 (NIV)“When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.”In baseball, there's a saying: How you conduct yourself on the field should be the same as how you conduct yourself off the field.On the field, we expect players to give their best effort, respect their teammates, listen to their managers, and respect the umpires—even when they disagree with a call. But that character shouldn't disappear when they leave the field. How they treat others when the game is over matters just as much as how they play during the game.The same is true of our walk with Jesus.In Acts 4:13, Peter and John stood before the Jewish religious leaders after healing a man who couldn't walk. The leaders were astonished because Peter and John were ordinary, uneducated men, yet they spoke with boldness and courage. And the leaders recognized something important: these men had been with Jesus.Peter and John had spent years learning from Jesus, watching how He loved people, served others, and stood firm in the truth. Even after Jesus ascended into heaven, His influence was evident in how they lived and spoke.They didn't take off their faith when they left His presence. Their lives reflected the time they had spent with Him.And that's our challenge today.It's easy to talk about Jesus at church, worship with other believers, and share our faith when things are going well. But what happens when a coworker frustrates us, someone treats us unfairly, or we don't get our way? Do we still show patience, humility, integrity, and respect?Following Jesus isn't just about what we say we believe. It's about how we live when nobody's watching.That doesn't mean we'll be perfect. Just like a baseball player will strike out sometimes, we'll make mistakes. What matters is how we respond—with humility, a willingness to make things right, and a heart that continues to grow.So, here's something to think about: If people watched how you conducted yourself at work, at home, and in public, would they recognize that you've been with Jesus?Your faith isn't just how you play on Sunday. It's how you live every day.
