• ACY CAST Episode #19: Trump Tariffs, Crypto Reserve & the EURO Rise
    Mar 13 2025

The US has imposed 25% tariffs on both Canada and Mexico, with Canada responding in kind and Mexico expected to follow suit. The disproportionate impact of these tariffs, as Canada exports 22% of its GDP to the US, while US exports to Canada only account for 2.2% of US GDP is plain to see. The imbalance creates a challenging scenario, akin to a "parent-child" relationship in trade.Market Volatility and the Fed’s RoleThe geopolitical uncertainty, combined with potential Federal Reserve rate cuts, adds volatility to the forex market. The Fed's upcoming FOMC meeting on March 18-19 could see a 25 basis point cut, with speculation that President Trump may be fostering chaos to justify monetary easing. Such moves could influence the US Dollar Index (DXY) and the EUR/USD currency pair, which some analysts predict could reach 1.10 before potential corrections.Cryptocurrency Market PotentialWith US banks potentially allowed to hold cryptocurrency assets in client accounts, the panel discussed the bullish outlook for Bitcoin and related ETFs. The possibility of significant inflows into Bitcoin, supported by the stock-to-flow model predicting a potential price of $200,000 in late 2025, suggests a strong positive impact on crypto ETFs.ConclusionThe ongoing trade disputes, potential Fed rate cuts, and evolving cryptocurrency regulations all contribute to a highly dynamic market environment. Traders should remain vigilant as upcoming events could present both risks and opportunities across asset classes.Register here for the next webinar: https://acy.com/en/education/webinars/Join Luca's Telegram Trading Feed: https://t.me/+bkfmaA76P2VlMTQ1If you would like to follow our forex trading analysis throughout the week, why not subscribe to the Bray Trade - Live interactive trading feed - Telegram Channel? https://t.me/+gvno4_asGMM0MTRlSimply contact nathan.bray@acy.com to get access.

  • ACY Cast Episode #15 - Gold and the Australian Dollar
    May 31 2024

Welcome back to another episode of ACY Cast! Today, we're delighted to have Nathan with us once again. His presence is always a treat, considering how busy he is on the trading floor. As usual, our goal is to share our knowledge and insights to help traders navigate the complex forex market. Gold and the Australian Dollar In this episode, we're focusing on two significant topics: gold and the Australian dollar. These assets have been in the spotlight recently due to some intriguing developments. We've observed some notable news from the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA). Reports suggest that the RBA won't cut rates until December 2025. This announcement has sparked various reactions, particularly given the RBA's track record of past statements that haven't always materialized as expected.

Reflecting on 2023, there were discussions about the market pricing in multiple rate cuts by the Federal Reserve, which didn't happen. This raises questions about the credibility and reliability of such projections. The key takeaway here is the uncertainty and the need for traders to critically assess information rather than taking it at face value. Rate Cuts: Who Will Blink First? The conversation shifted to a broader context: the global rate-cutting environment. We pondered who might be the first major economy to blink and initiate rate cuts. While the Federal Reserve's stance remains pivotal, the European Central Bank (ECB) and other entities like the Bank of Japan are also in focus. Recent data, such as the German CPI, indicated rising inflation, which contradicts the notion of imminent rate cuts. Despite artificial measures to temper inflation, the underlying pressures remain strong. This situation complicates the landscape for traders, who must navigate through the noise to identify genuine trends and opportunities. From a technical perspective, the Australian dollar has experienced a significant drop against the US dollar, moving from 0.67 to 0.6566. This 1% drop in a week highlights the volatility and the influence of market sentiment on currency pairs.
