• The Faith It Takes to Rebuild
    Oct 21 2026

    Nehemiah 2:1-20

Pastor Troy was back in our series on Nehemiah this week with a powerful message of what rebuilding looks like for the people of God. We all say that we want to rebuild and revitalize and be renewed, yet there are aspects of our lives that are lacking the faith in order to facilitate these things. Faith is not merely the belief in the fact that there is a God, but it is an active trusting and putting feet to the faith we say that we have. Faith without works is dead. If we expect God to begin moving in these ways but we are not actively trusting in the Lord through prayer, planning, moving, and seeking to grow in relation to Him, we are sorely misled. This movement is not from a confidence in ourselves, but rather in the eternal power of our Lord and Savior who desires to renew His church in this nation and the world!

As we have broken through into the latter part of the year, it seems as though the Lord has still been leading Pastors Cory and Troy on a path speaking directly to the church and our Christian walk. Starting at the beginning of the year, Pastor Troy began to preach a series on vision and the church, and Pastor Cory has taken a break from Ephesians to bring messages that are very timely for us as a church. There have been powerful messages that we hope you will go back and listen to. These men of God bring us a word from the Lord every week and we pray that you are blessed from this word as well during this season of our lives.

The calling for every Christian is to take the gospel to the ends of the earth. Well, where does the earth begin and where does it end? For us at Bald Mountain Baptist Church, the world begins in the Shumont Community on top of a little peak in Buncombe County, NC. Our prayer is that through this platform we might do our part in reaching the ends of the earth with the gospel!

Sing unto the Lord a new song, and his praise from the end of the earth, ye that go down to the sea, and all that is therein; the isles, and the inhabitants thereof. Let the wilderness and the cities thereof lift up their voice, the villages that Kedar doth inhabit: let the inhabitants of the rock sing, let them shout from the top of the mountains.

    Isaiah 42:10-11

  • Our Ministry In Christ
    Oct 11 2026

    1 Thessalonians 2:1-12 |

Pastor Cory is back in Paul's letter to the Thessalonians with a very powerful message today. While Paul is describing his past and current ministry to the churches, he is not only speaking to the pastors and church leaders. Instead, every believer is meant to follow after his example of longsuffering, holiness, and integrity in the ministry. Pastor Cory makes the express point that all Christians have been given the calling from God to go out and share their faith with a world that is broken and hurting. May we learn from Paul today and go forth with boldness to share the love of Christ with others.

As we have broken through into the latter part of the year, it seems as though the Lord has still been leading Pastors Cory and Troy on a path speaking directly to the church and our Christian walk. • Forgiven People Forgive
    Oct 6 2026

    Matthew 18:21-35

Our brother Will Dicus brings us a very important message on forgiveness from the very mouth of Jesus. Our Lord commanded us not to only forgive once, or twice, or even ten times, but to not set a limit on how many times we are to extend forgiveness to someone. This may seem like an impossible command sometimes given what certain people may put us through, but all of that pales in comparison when we think about the debt that Christ for which died to forgive us. If Jesus can go to the cross with joy set before Him then we certainly can extend forgiveness to anyone and everyone that wrongs us in this life. Not only are we to forgive someone for their sake, but we are to find forgiveness in our hearts for our own sake. Bitterness, resentment, and unforgiveness are like a poison that we drink expecting it to hurt the other person.

As we have broken through into the latter part of the year, it seems as though the Lord has still been leading Pastors Cory and Troy on a path speaking directly to the church and our Christian walk. • The Church That Christ Started
    Sep 28 2026

    1 Thessalonians 1:1-10 |

Pastor Cory elbow dropped this text right to our souls this morning. Paul is writing to a church at Thessalonica that, even amidst persecution and spiritual warfare, was committed to being a sounding board for the gospel in the world. They labored in love and were longsuffering as they faced attacks from without and within. They were a church that not only received the blessed light of Jesus Christ, but one that shined that light into the darkness all around them. They understood that each member had a ministry, that they were helpless without the power of God, and that they were transformed not by their own will but by the will of God. The church that Christ started was a church that did not shy away from standing for Him.

As we have broken through into the latter part of the year, it seems as though the Lord has still been leading Pastors Cory and Troy on a path speaking directly to the church and our Christian walk. • The Depth of Nehemiah's Concern
    Sep 20 2026

    Nehemiah 1:4-11 |

Pastor Troy finishes chapter 1 of Nehemiah with an in-depth look at the concern that Nehemiah has for the people and nation of Israel. Not only do we have to take Nehemiah's word for it, his actions indicate just how burdened he was for the city and land he has never seen with his own eyes. He was so burdened that he wept and mourned over the city, he fasted for many days. He was so burdened that he interceded on behalf of the nation and took responsibility himself for God's judgment against them. He was so burdened that he never gave up in his praying and seeking God for Him to move and restore His people. May we be so burdened over the decline of the American church and the darkness we see in this world today. May we be so burdened for our families, communities, and nation. May we not just say we are concerned. May we show it by our actions.

As we have broken through into the latter part of the year, it seems as though the Lord has still been leading Pastors Cory and Troy on a path speaking directly to the church and our Christian walk. • What Are We Bragging About?
    Sep 13 2026

    Jeremiah 9:23-24

Our brother Will Dicus brought a very powerful message from the words of the prophet Jeremiah to the people of God. The nation of Judah was now facing the judgment of God because they had not heading the warnings to repent of their own ways. They had begun to lean on their own wisdom, strength, and riches. Today, this message hits home for us as God's people. This world and the devil are constantly trying to get us to boast in ourselves rather than remembering we would be nothing without the sure mercies of Jesus Christ. Will asks us the question, what are WE boasting about?

As we have broken through into the latter part of the year, it seems as though the Lord has still been leading Pastors Cory and Troy on a path speaking directly to the church and our Christian walk. • Introduction to Nehemiah
    Sep 10 2026

    Nehemiah 1:1-3

Pastor Troy says that the Lord has led him to continue our series on the Church by moving into a study of the book of Nehemiah. A Jew who had never actually stepped foot in Jerusalem and the cupbearer to the pagan king of Babylon, Nehemiah's faith was not hampered despite these challenges. In fact, he had a zeal for God's kingdom that we today ought to take a lesson from. As we look to rebuild our church and restore our community here at Bald Mountain, Pastor Troy encourages us to lay aside every weight and distraction and continue the work God has called us to.

  • Our Discipleship in Christ
    Sep 1 2026

    Luke 9:23-27

Pastor Cory brings a powerful message about discipleship from Jesus' famous words in Luke 9. We've all heard before, "pick up your cross and follow me," but how can we actually do that in our lives? Jesus says that we are deny ourselves. We must surrender the control that we think we have in our lives and seek to follow after Him. It is the person that is constantly trying to hold on to their lives that lose it, and it is only through surrender that we actually gain the life that truly matters.

As we have broken through into the latter part of the year, it seems as though the Lord has still been leading Pastors Cory and Troy on a path speaking directly to the church and our Christian walk.
