John Joseph McGowan grew up in the foster care system, was abused, spent time in prison, joined the Navy, went AWOL from the Navy under a new name, and then became a rockstar.
He's an author and vegan triathlete from New York City and most famous for his work as the lead singer of the Cro-Mags in the 1980s.
