• E29 Yoga master Subhan Nair - On relationships, ego and the power of Classical Hatha Yoga
    Nov 6 2024

Join yoga master Subhan Nair as he reveals the secrets to a life-changing Hatha Yoga practice. Learn how to transform your relationships and connect with your inner self in this enlightening episode!

How will classical hatha yoga change your life and relationships? Subhan is globally one of the most experienced Isha Hatha Yoga teachers and has been involved with Sadhguru and the Isha Foundation since 2006.

He completed his Isha Hatha Yoga training in 2013 which is 1750 hour course and attends further training every year to maintain the quality of his offering. After taking the first Isha Yoga course in the UK directly with Sadhguru (Founder of Isha Hatha Yoga), his perception of yoga, as well as his perception of life, completely changed.

He started living life with a different intensity and freedom which transformed his experience of life and further led him on a journey to learn more. This journey has led him to places like in India and the Tibetan Himalayas. He spent much time living at the Isha Yoga Centre (Sadhguru’s ashram in India) deepening his spiritual journey.

He spent a lot of time volunteering alongside some of the most senior teachers and monks in the Isha Foundation, developing his spiritual growth and experience. After completing this teacher training and initially teaching many classes on behalf of the Isha Foundation, Subhan created The Hatha Yoga Effect as a medium to communicate the true impact of Classical Hatha Yoga and create a different message for Yoga than the one that exists mainstream. He has gone on to teach many high-profile clients as well as in some of the most prestigious and iconic places.

This includes the House of Commons and on stage at the OM Yoga show as well as the official International Day of Yoga events at Trafalgar Square and Tower Bridge.

  • E28 - Prof. Stephen Scott, CBE - All about parenting - differences in children, psychology and parenting techniques
    Oct 28 2024

Blockbuster interview! This week I was honoured to interview Prof. Stephen Scott, CBE – on everything you ever needed to know about parenting. In my own book ‘Single, and too tired to mingle’, I write and research parenting quite extensively – and my chat with Stephen will hopefully help any parent struggling with their offspring.

Prof. Stephen Scott is a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist. That means he is trained as a medical doctor (not a clinical psychologist) who specialises in assessing and treating the mental health and wellbeing of children and teenagers. Prof. Scott’s Teaching Hospital Consultant Appointment is at the Maudsley Hospital, London; He is also Professor of Child Health and Behaviour at Institute of Psychiatry, King’s College London.

The Maudsley Hospital and the Institute of Psychiatry are closely interlinked and combine to form perhaps the leading centre in Europe for the understanding and treatment of psychiatric and psychological problems. Stephen Scott has always been interested in both the physical and mental aspects of children and families.

After a full degree in Psychology, he trained in medicine at the Royal London Hospital and Cambridge University, where he won a science prize and the psychiatry prize. He then worked as a Paediatrician for five years at a number of hospitals, including the Royal Brompton and Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children.

Having got a good understanding of children’s medical problems, prof. Scott decided to widen his expertise by training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Maudsley Hospital, including four years as clinical lecturer with Professor Sir Michael Rutter FRS and Professor Eric Taylor.

Prof. Scott is the author of the leading introductory textbook Child Psychiatry, (published by Blackwell, with Professor Robert Goodman, 3rd edition 2012). He also publishes scholarly articles on the findings of his research on how best to treat children.

  • E27 Prof. James Brown - Adult ADHD. How to spot it and why diagnosis is so difficult
    Oct 15 2024

Professor James Brown is a Director of JBHD Ltd, and an Associate Professor in Biosciences at Aston University in the UK. He has a significant presence in the field of ADHD, especially for adults, and has become a well-known figure due to his extensive work and personal experiences with ADHD. James was diagnosed with ADHD in February 2021, after being aware of living with it for about five years.

#adhd stands for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. People with ADHD have lots of energy and they can have difficulty concentrating. It can be hard for people with ADHD to control what they say and do – this can mean that they do things and speak impulsively (when you act or speak without thinking it through first). Symptoms of ADHD can start early in life. People with ADHD might struggle in their personal lives and they can experience difficulties in relationships with friends and family. ADHD is heritable disorder (this means that parents can pass it on to their children through their genes and DNA), so ADHD often runs in families.

People with ADHD might find it helpful to speak to their family and share experiences. Signs: Finding it hard to pay attention and concentrate Being easily distracted Daydreaming a lot Having overactive thinking Finding it hard to organise yourself and your things Often acting quickly before thinking about it first because you’re impulsive or your mood is unstable Being physically over-active Feeling restless or fidgety James Brown is notably active in several ADHD-related initiatives. James is a co-founder of #ADHDadultUK, a registered UK charity focused on supporting #adultsADHD.

He also co-founded Focusmag.uk, an evidence-based online magazine, and The ADHD Adults Podcast, which discusses issues related to adult ADHD, while sharing evidence-based information and personal experiences. In addition to these roles, James is also an author, public speaker, consultant, science communicator, and ADHD coach. His contributions to the field extend to writing on health-related matters, with a notable readership, including over 2.3 million reads on The Conversation, a platform for academic and research community contributions.

Through his various roles and platforms, James actively contributes to raising awareness, providing support, and offering educational resources about ADHD, particularly for adults. JBHD Ltd provides services for the adult ADHD community and organisations. Services include individual ADHD coaching, couples ADHD coaching, public talks on ADHD, institutional training on ADHD, and advice and support for various organisations, including the media, the NHS, government bodies, and companies.

  • E26 Rohan Mer - Cyber security expert. Romance fraud, online fraud and how to stay safe
    Oct 2 2024

Tuesday talks with ‪@CoCoNovak‬ and Rohan Mer - an expert in cyber security.

Rohan talks about the fact that 40% of all fraud in the UK are scams. In the UK, common scams include #Phishing emails, #InvestmentFraud, #OnlineShoppingScams, and #RomanceScams.

Phishing involves deceptive emails that mimic legitimate organizations to steal personal information. Investment fraud promises high returns but often leads to significant losses.

Online shopping scams trick consumers into paying for goods that never arrive.

Romance scams exploit emotional vulnerabilities, leading to financial loss. To avoid these scams, always verify the sender's email, use secure payment methods, research investment opportunities, and be cautious about sharing personal information online.

Report suspicious activities to #ActionFraud and stay informed about the latest scams to protect yourself. #ScamAwareness #FraudPrevention #tuesdaytalks #romance #romanceanime

  • E25 Trey Pratt. How Joe Rogan changed his life and how Trey now inspires others
    Sep 16 2024

Trey Pratt: Overcoming Adversity Through Jiu-Jitsu

Domestic violence, abuse, and neglect dominated Trey Pratt's childhood. At one point, he ran away for 18 months, and no one came looking for him. His mother feared that if she filed a missing persons report, authorities might take away her other two children.

Feeling hopeless and not expecting to live past 30, Trey had given up on life. However, his destiny took a turn when he started listening to "The Joe Rogan Experience." Joe Rogan, a well-known advocate for Jiu-Jitsu, has inspired many to join the martial art.

Initially, Trey didn’t give it much thought, but fate had other plans. After driving past a Jiu-Jitsu gym on his way to work for six months, he finally decided to take a class.

The rest, as they say, is history. He fell in love with the discipline, began training kids, and they quickly became fond of him. For the first time, he saw a future beyond 30, envisioned opening his own studio, and achieved that dream.

Earning a Jiu-Jitsu black belt is notoriously challenging, but Trey accomplished that as well. Listen to his story and be inspired to move forward with your life and pursue something you’ve been longing to start.

  • E24 Hector Maclean - Fashion designer. Through struggles to success.
    Sep 10 2024

Tuesday Talks with fashion designer Hector Maclean. "Hector Maclean’s journey is a testament to resilience and self-belief. Growing up in a faith-filled home, with a Buddhist mother who faced fertility struggles, his own life began against the odds. Bullied for being different, Hector first sought success to prove others wrong. But in time, he discovered that true validation comes from within. His triumph over dyslexia, even in moments like spelling 'Vivienne Westwood' wrong in a cover letter, didn’t hold him back—he got hired anyway. Now, recognized by Forbes as a '30 under 30' designer, Hector is poised to make waves in fashion, driven by his own vision and self-love."

  • E23 Liz Brewer - Lifelong relationships - men, energy, discoteques, working with global celebrities
    Aug 17 2024

Tuesday Talks with Liz Brewer - an enchanting and highly successful businesswoman with endless amounts of energy! My last interviewee in Season 1. Thank you, Liz! Liz Brewer walks us through her life adventures, from being a debutante in high society and networking daily, to deciding not to be just 'someone's wife.'

She gave up the comfortable lifestyle she could have had to flee to Portugal and open a discotheque. The venture was hugely successful, so much so that the landlord pulled the electricity as the crowd was too large.

Moving to London, she continued her career and worked with highly successful and famous clients. She shares some of these events and acknowledges that to move ahead, we also need the right connections. Relationships are everything. Her impression of Ivana Trump is unparalleled :) Not many women get engaged six times!!

Liz managed that and in the end, marries the Lion man himself, John Rendall. She walks us through how they met as well as not ever receiving a ring from him, as he deemed her unreliable when rigs are at play. Their daughter Tallulah Rendall was also my guest, a family affair. E18
