    Ayat is a leading entrepreneur in the Middle East’s beauty retail industry. A former EY investigative consultant and emerging market strategist, Ayat identified a gap in the local beauty market, after a tumultuous journey through skincare missteps after moving to the Middle East in her twenties. Fueled by an unwavering commitment to ethical consumerism, she began curating beauty products from around the world and bringing them to Dubai for her network, which eventually led to the birth of Powder Beauty. As the CEO at Powder, she applies an analytical approach to solving complex business challenges, optimizing operations and driving growth. Ayat has been based in Dubai for the past 15 years and speaks Arabic and English. Ayat graduated from the London School of Economics and Political Science with an MSc in Diplomacy and International Strategy and a BA in War Studies from Kings College London.

    Myriam’s award-winning, directorial debut documentary “Finding Alaa” (BBC/CBC 2023), under her production company MPWR productions, won the “Special Mention”. The film has been BAFTA Longlisted as “Best Short Film” 2024.


    Myriam was nominated as one of only 14 “filmmakers to watch” in 2021. She was nominated as part of the “40 under 40” European Young Leaders (EYLs) class of 2017 and awarded ‘Woman in Media Award’ at the Muslim Women Awards 2021.


    Myriam is a seasoned reporter, having reported for BBC World Service. Myriam’s writings are featured widely in the British press, including the Guardian, TIME, Foreign Policy, the Telegraph and CNN online.
