• Episode 6 - Positive with Patrick and Carmel Bridges
    Feb 21 2022

In this episode, I speak with my sister Carmel, who is four years older than me.  We talk about her period of extreme anxiety and what she did to work through that time and what it was like for her.  We didn't know until recent years that anxiety has been in our family for a very long time. Carmel is a beautiful woman and spirit.  The two of us are close and also quite silly together but I've made sure that the edit isn't too rude or inappropriate.  It is, but just a bit.

    About Carmel:

Carmel Bridges lives in Western Australia, Perth, with her husband and twins who are now in their 20s.  She's a brilliant mum and child carer to little little kids.  What's always struck me about her is how much love, positivity and generosity she exudes wherever she goes.  Carmel is incredibly resilient and has always been an incredible strength and support to me.  She also happens to be a fantastic cook and a lot of our conversations include quite a lot of talk about food.

    Find and Contact Carmel:

Your best best would be finding her through my instagram or finding her in an Italian deli in a beach town in Perth, WA.

    Jan 10 2022

In this episode, I speak with my oldest, and my OLDEST friend, Ralph. We discuss how we met; he admits that he thought that I wasn't quite right at the age of 19!  We also discuss our working definition of boring people and how a lot of people just aren't that interested in listening to each other.  Ralph also discusses the pain of losing two of his most precious loving relationships.  Ralph told me about three years ago that he was dying.  Well he was wrong.  He's still here and for that I am very grateful.

    About Ralph:

Ralph grew up in Scotland in the 1940s.  He moved to New Zealand as a young man and became a teacher in his late teens.  Ralph has always been passionate about the creative arts, particularly in education. Ralph taught me how to teach and probably how to think for myself and to be all of myself no matter what.  He's an excellent teacher, director, reviewer of theatre and books.  Ralph reads about 150+ books a year and regularly reviews books on Radio New Zealand.  He was also the only person I felt safe enough to turn to when I came out.  Ralph lives in Paekakariki, a small beachside town north of Wellington, New Zealand.

  • Episode 2 - Positive with Patrick and Johnny Lawrence
    Jan 10 2022

In this episode, Johnny and I talk about all sorts of things like his wrestling career, not really, just his wrestling pants, and his obsession with Hawaii - although he's never been - brilliant.  We also talk about the racism he experienced, his childhood and the harsh reality of growing up in an abusive, unsafe environment.  What I find incredibly inspiring about Johnny is that he's created a beautiful life for himself in the face of the challenges he experienced as a young person.  Johnny's also the person who challenged me to create this podcast giving me both a push and support.  If you are unhappy with anything in this or any episode, please contact Johnny Lawrence.

    About Johnny:

Johnny’s coaching journey started in 2006 when he qualified as a health and fitness coach. It wasn’t long before he realised that he was coaching across so much more than physical health. Supporting people to improve and change all aspects of their lives became his passion which led him to become the self-development coach.

He found from working with a diverse range of people, and also from healing from his childhood trauma, that he had a passion and a talent for supporting people with their self-development.

Johnny is the founder of the School Of Self Development that supports, guides and educates people towards becoming unstuck and achieving what they want from their life.

Johnny also hosts a popular podcast called The Self Development Podcast, where he has conversations with industry leaders surrounding self-development in a vast array of areas and topics.

  • Episode 1 - Positive with Patrick and Natalie Miller-Snell
    Jan 10 2022

In this episode, we talk about one of Natalie's greatest challenges - the start of the pandemic and all of her freelance contract work stopping overnight - being unemployed effectively.  From earning a good salary to suddenly overnight earning zero.  This dark moment was incredibly hard but Natalie talks in detail about this and what she did to stay well and move forward. Wine, chocolate, grief and forcing herself to connect with others helped her a lot!

    About Natalie

Natalie Miller-Snell is a certified Life Coach, motivational speaker, qualified Civil Engineer and people enthusiast. She founded NMS Coaching Ltd following her lifelong passion and ambition to help people realise their potential and that anything is possible; everyone is capable of great things - sometimes we just need someone to help us find the right direction.

As a former Director of Development, Natalie has spent 20+ years in the building and construction industry, leading and enabling teams to successfully deliver retail projects across the globe.  She has worked with teams to transform underperforming departments, mentor individuals and encourage those around her to believe in themselves, trust in their abilities and build confidence to take on new tasks and succeed.  Natalie believes her positive attitude and can-do approach has been fundamental to everything she does, together with her desire to listen to and nurture the team around her. With her broad understanding of business and the challenges that leaders face, Natalie recognises a key component in coaching is to provide a safe and confidential space, where her clients can be themselves.  Natalie is passionate about enabling individuals to find clarity and purpose by tapping into their own genius through open conversation, positive psychology and creative thinking.
