With Demetri Ravanos filling in for Giglio, the show opens with a big-picture college football question: is the SEC cooked? The league hasn’t put a team in the College Football Playoff championship game for three straight years, and the landscape has clearly shifted. With money flooding the sport, the transfer portal enabling drastic roster turnover, and Nick Saban no longer running the show, is there finally enough data to say the SEC’s grip is slipping? And if so, how does the conference fix it? The answer might lie in the structure of the College Football Playoff, but even there, the Big Ten and SEC want very different things. Spoiler: the beer wasn’t strong enough. The Carolina Panthers’ season ends in the NFL Wild Card, and while the final defensive stand is fair to question, Dave Canales and Bryce Young deserve real credit for winning fans over after taking serious heat back in September.

From there, it’s a Lightning Round of NFL Wild Card takes, including one big-picture question: when is it OK to move on from a coach who consistently gets you to the playoffs? Then it’s over to ACC hoops, where Duke and UNC are both searching for defensive consistency, while NC State keeps handling business in games they’re supposed to win.
