Emotions are one of God's great gifts to us. Emotions are a big part of our humanity. We have to be careful though that we are not controlled by our emotions. As belivers, we are to be controlled by the Holy Spirit. We are to make decisions based on the principles of scripture. If we let our emotions control us and our decisions, they may lead us to place God never intended for us to be.

In the world of movies, books, and reality TV, one of the enduring relational themes is the search for your soulmate. If only this relational myth stayed in the world of fiction. The idea that there is one special person that will complete you and fulfill your every need sounds romantic, but it's not true. There is not just one person, your soulmate, for you to marry that will can you can find ultimate love and happiness with. God gives us commands and principles for us to follow and make a reasoned choice for a spouse. Once you marry that person, they do become your sole-mate. When you marry someone, God's desire is that person is now your one and only spouse for as long as you both shall live.

In the first part of our "When Loving Hurts" series, we talked about the pain of loving a spouse who does not love you back. Today, we look at a different kind of hurt. The pain of watching someone you love fade away to a debilitating disease. This is a love story about Robert and Margaret. This is the story of a husband who kept his vows of loving in times of "sickness and worse." It's the story of a man who cared for and loved his wife to the end because, sometimes, love hurts.
