What does getting in your own way look like? Here are a few ways I’ve gotten in my own way: - Hustling for worthiness - Letting other people define my value and worth - Ignoring my body by not taking care of myself - Lying to myself and others, aka people-pleasing - Thinking I wasn’t good enough. Here are a few things I’ve practiced to get out of my own way: - Asking myself “What brings me joy?” and honoring the answers - Being okay with me - nothing is wrong with me and my life - Connecting with my body, listening to it, honoring it - Telling the truth to myself, then to others if I want to - Loving myself no matter what - Practice, practice, practice. At the end of each episode, I present new questions for you to engage with. Answering the questions helps you gain insight and clarity for yourself. You’ll hear new perspectives on self-care and how you can feel empowered by caring for yourself. Through small acts of kindness to yourself, you can strengthen your relationship with yourself. I talk about self-care and self-care practices in a deep and meaningful way, and offer transformative, expanded possibilities for how you can view yourself and your life, for how you can show up for yourself and your life. If you don’t yet, you’ll start to believe that you are worthy, valuable, and good enough. You’ll be able to see how you’ve gotten in your own way, how to get out of your own way, and how to create what you want. You’ll start making more aligned decisions, which will affect your whole life. It’s about even more self-love and self-acceptance and how we get there.

  • "Understanding Your Inner World: Self-Compassion & Parts Work" with Amber Masselot
    Mar 20 2025
What if you're not actually getting in your own way? What if the parts of you that seem to hold you back are actually trying to protect you? In this episode, I talk with licensed marriage and family therapist Amber Masselot to explore Internal Family Systems (IFS), a powerful approach to self-awareness and healing. Amber shares how recognizing and working with our different “parts” can help us navigate self-doubt, perfectionism, and emotional struggles with more compassion.
We discuss how our protective parts develop, why they sometimes create self-sabotage, and how reconnecting with our true “Self” can help us move through challenges with clarity and confidence. If you’ve ever felt stuck in patterns of people-pleasing, self-criticism, or emotional overwhelm, this conversation will give you new insights into why—and how to move forward with kindness toward yourself.

    Questions to consider:
    • What’s one area of your life where you feel “stuck”? Could a protective part be at play?
    • How might self-compassion shift the way you approach your challenges?
    • What would it look like to reconnect with your true Self and create inner alignment?

  • "Quieting Your Inner Critic" with Terri Hayes
    Mar 6 2025
Does perfectionism keep you stuck, second-guessing yourself, or afraid to take action? In this episode, I talk with life coach Terri Hayes to explore how perfectionism shows up in our lives—through fear, an overactive inner critic, and suppressing emotions—and how we can break free. Terri shares her journey of shifting from self-judgment to self-acceptance, learning to process emotions instead of avoiding them, and embracing imperfect action to create real momentum.

We also discuss the surprising truth about belonging, why trying to “fit in” actually keeps us disconnected, and how small mindset shifts can lead to major breakthroughs. If you’ve ever struggled with self-doubt or felt like you’re never doing enough, this conversation will help you reframe your inner dialogue and step into a more compassionate, empowered version of yourself.

    Some questions to consider:
    • Where is perfectionism holding you back from taking action in your life?
    • What’s one way you can show yourself more self-acceptance this week?
    • How would your life change if you became your own best friend instead of your own biggest critic?

  • “Speaking Your Truth: From People-Pleasing to Empowerment” with Dr. Sweta Chawla
    Feb 20 2025
In this episode of Get Out of Your Own Way, I’m joined by Dr. Sweta Chawla, a Leadership Coach and Vocal Empowerment Facilitator, who shares her journey of breaking free from people-pleasing and discovering her authentic voice.
Dr. Sweta opens up about how she followed a career path in pharmacy to fulfill her mother’s dream, only to realize later that it wasn’t aligned with her true passions. Through deep self-reflection and coaching, she learned to identify her values, recognize her patterns of people-pleasing and perfectionism, and find the courage to speak her truth.
Now, as a speaker and coach, she empowers others to step into their authenticity, embrace discomfort as part of growth, and design lives that align with their values and desires. This conversation is an inspiring reminder that reclaiming your voice starts with small steps and a commitment to self-awareness.
    Questions for you to consider:
    • Am I living according to my own desires or someone else’s expectations?
    • What small step can I take today to honor my truth?
    • How can I build the courage to express what I truly want?
Tune in to hear Dr. Sweta’s powerful story and gain insights into how you, too, can activate your authentic voice and create a life that feels true to you.
